[QUOTE="jackelhunter"]well if a person wants to believe in a certain religion, and its because they really believe in it, then why not? even if you or me don't agree with it, let them because they have the right to. I am a Christian because I truely believe in God, and that he sent his son down to Earth to save us from our sins. Many people have the misconception that all religion does is cause prejudice and discrimination, and wars, but that's because of the media. All they show is all of the car bombings, and wars, but do they ever mention all of the charity work that churches do, or how they help their community? No, you don't, so many people have these kinds of misconceptions about religion. Yes, some people do use religion to cause wars and arguments, but that's only the minority. The rest are just regular people who have done nothing wrong and just want to live their lives.

I understand all that, although I don't agree with your last sentence. I think most religious people want their government to make religious beliefs into laws. But anyways, I aksed what is rational about believing in a god?
And what is rational about NOT beleiving in God? To some, it sounds just as ridiculous that you beleive the big bang theory, then a small cell formed into something more, eventually forming life, then water, then monkies transformed themselves into humans over time. And the Sun and Moon perfectly work there way around the Earth in a clock-like perfection, and we have a conscience, soul, the mere details of a birth. All of this started from a simple cell? How is that more beleivable than beleiving in God? To me, it's much less rational. Another thing to chew on; if all life did begin from a simple organism, who put that 'organism here to reproduce? Or the asteroids involved in the big bang. Did they just magically appear? You can 'find' flaws in every beleif of lifes origins, some seem more stretched than others, but nothing is more rational than beleiving God if you read the Bible.
God is omnipresent, Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End. Faith is the means of beleiving in something you cannot always explain, therefore the arguement over where he 'comes from' is answered in the Bible.
