Quote: SirFartsAlot329 "Why does everyone keep bashing the PS3? It can't be for the price because if they think about it the PS3 is saving them money. The last time I remember seeing a home computer for $500/$600 with 7 3.2 ghz processors, a video card equal to maybe a geforce 7800 and wireless Internet with a pretty decent hard drive was probably about NEVER." That would be a valid argument if the PS3 could actually be used as a computer. I'm sorry, but having the ability to run a crippled linux distro with some shareware apps hardly makes the grade. I doubt you'll see MS Office or Photoshop or any other professional software running on PS3, so please stop with the "But it's a COMPUTAR!!!" arguments. Nobody is buying it. And Blu-ray? Who really cares. I own a 360 and I'm not rushing out to buy an HD-DVD drive...and I own an HDTV. It's just not worth the cost right now to own either format. Progressive scan DVDs and downloaded HD movies are fine enough (and a *lot* cheaper). Yes, you're getting a lot for your money with PS3, but that doesn't mean that people want to fork over that much cash for something. Think of the PS3 as a BMW and the 360 as an Acura. BMWs are great cars, but they're way overpriced (and unreliable). Why overpay for a BMW when you can buy an Acura that's just as good? I'm sure the PS3 will hit its stride, but people need to stop saying "If you can't afford it that's your problem!" because honestly, I can afford a PS3. I just don't want it.

Quote: Furbyballistik "so gamespot....is it your plan to try and make everybody dislike the ps3? do you want complete faliur from sony?? why must you always bring negative news on here that is pointless in posting?? whatever..i give up on tryin to be a hero.." Their responses are editorial comments. Opinions. It's their job to analyze news announcements and comment on their effect in the gaming community. How exactly would you expect them to react to such news? The European PS3 will have *less* features and cost *more." While I agree that it's not a big deal in the long run (360 owners are used to limited bc...it's not a big deal, really) it's hard not to feel shafted when every other market is getting a better system for less money. If the GS editors didn't point that out I'd certainly be wary of their credibility. Sony is responsible for all the negative press they've received. Will they recover? Of course. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes and get back on track. Right now they're just making one blunder after the next.

Quote: andrew_ribbons "Yes, because we all have HDTV's capable of 1080p, now don't we? Well we do if we're PCGamers and about double that resolution further with modern PC monitors. As one of the GSUK editors said, not that many people have an HDTV yet." Not all PC monitors output in 1080p or have the proper aspect ratio and input ports to support a game console. Not all PCs are equipped with powerful enough video cards to support those resolutions for games. Despite the power and flexibility of PC gaming, it comes at a hefty price (certainly one that's higher than owning a next-gen console). @ Big_Boss2703 Upscaling PS2 games to 1080p will only make them look worse. Remember, if your textures were designed to look good on a 640x480i screen and you enlarge them it only highlights how crappy they look (especially if you're not adding FSAA or other improvements to it).

So much for Nintendo's games being "flawless." To be fair, the big N is usually very good at catching most bugs, but the last few Pokemon games have all shipped with one issue or another (remember the save game bug?). Proof that no developer is immune to shipping a less-than-perfect product.

The animated shorts they posted on XBL were cute. Better than the usual Saturday morning crap they cram down kids' throats at four frames per second with sugar-coated ads and toy tie-ins.

Free games are always nice. I hope they include Pinball in Vista.

- Any Final Fantasy Game (I hate turn-based RPGs and random encounters with a passion) - Devil May Cry (PS2) - Any Legend of Zelda game (for more than an hour) - Sid Meier's Pirates (C64 or Xbox) - Warcraft/WoW/Starcraft/Diablo (too lazy to pick them up, too cheap to pay a monthly fee) - Fallout (gotta find a copy)
