Ruined HBO , all they had to do was leave It alone , we didn't even need HBO Max.

This Is what I feel will happen to game services In the future like Gamepass and PS+.

"FF16 producer Naoki Yoshida said the team went for a more action-oriented direction in order to appeal to younger players."

This mentality of chasing the newest young trends every generation Is part of the reason for the franchise steady decline and Squares 22 year Identity crisis , even though so far I do like how the action oriented gameplay looks this time , like It's finally deep and dynamic enough (and hopefully FUN)... we'll see.

@Abdulrahman1981: In a year with FF16 , Starfield , Spiderman 2 , The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom , Alan Wake 2 , Diablo 4 , and Stalker 2 all coming out... highly unlikely (though possible because RE4 is still that good).

I knew chord cutting prices would go this route , I saw the writing on the wall and canceled YTTV back when prices rose over $40 years ago. You can get almost anything free on sites like Tubi and Pluto , only thing worth paying for Is Prime which Includes Prime Video , that's enough for me.

As It stands with the current flavor of Zelda and Nintendo's average quality to non-existant Zelda stories Zelda just dosen't do It for me anymore , It's gotta be deeper and more complex now weather It's open world or not , bosses have to matter and be memorable , and temples have to be diverse full fledged memorable temples. If Nintendo ever competes again with state of the art powerful hardware capable of a truly mature large graphically advanced Zelda worlds , stories , and game design then I'd be Interested. Funny because Wind Waker was actually the last Zelda I was moderaely Interested In and at the time alot of people dismissed It because It didn't look mature enough , yet I liked that aesthetic more than Twilight Princess which purposely went for Nintendo's Idea of safe maturity which still wasn't mature enough. The kind of Zelda I want now Is a FromSoftware type of world/gameplay depth and challenge , I'd love to see what they could do with the IP.

What If we had a rule put In place where none of the big 3 could purchase any developer worth more than 5 billion? That could keep things attainable for most midsized companies now and In the future , since most companies In the entire world don't have the money to even consider a 69 billion dollar dev purchase outside of Microsoft , Tencent , Google , Apple , Facebook , Amazon. Maybe they could even just rule Rockstar and Activision/Blizzard off limits to buy? or any dev not bought before they become worth more than 5 billion off limits , and you can only buy 1 major AAA developer every 10 years , but you can start up as many from scratch as you like and however successful they become Is fair and square (and we end "timed exclusivity" It's either forever exclusive or It's not). This way nobody could just continuously buy their way to an easy advantage , and any dominance will be hard earned and fair and still matchable , everyone would have a balanced set of boundries to compete within.

@singhellotaku:

"a new game that is loosely based on an old one is ALSO a remake, just a different style of remake."

I believe this could be classified just as much as a "reimagining" , and I do believe there Is a difference and It Is a thing , especially when loosely based goes too far and It looses too much of the core key Indentity of the original. I believe remakes are a delicate balancing act , knowing what to change substantially and what to only subtely change but mostly leave alone , the only universal change Is a complete visual overhaul with remade assets and graphical engine from the ground up.

To me FF7R Is an example of being more of a reimagining even though It's marketed as a remake , It just went too far Into It's own thing and lost too much of the original's Identity , and for mostly Inferior changes imo that compromised what made the original magical In too many ways , this may not have been the devs Intention but that's ultimately how It felt to alot of fans, especially OG fans who made It what It was , I feel It's Important for devs to be In touch with their fans , that's one reason why Miyazaki and FromSoftware have remained so consistently successful while taking risks with their formula , they understand their audience down to the quirkiest micro details.

I like 2002's Biohazard Remake , which I think was 70 percent different yet felt familiar enough In all the right ways , though at the same time I liked 2019's Biohazard 2 Remake as well which worked great In new ways.. I just like the former even more. You can try to please everyone and end up pleasing noone so I say lean confidently Into subtle or drastic changes just never too subtle that It feels like a glorified remaster (like TLOU Remake) or never too drastic that It looses It's Identity and becomes too much of something else (like FF7R) , besides trying to cater to two very different eras of popular game design trends just dosen't mix sometime or can be too hard. No way Is wrong though ultimately It's just a case by case basis , there's no rules It depends on which classic game we're considering and that games strengths and weaknesses and how key aspects hold up to fans. Respect the fans who ask for these over trying to maximize potential profits by converting and appealing to new players or riding new trends.

"Dream House" did the same Idea back In 1998 (starring Timothy Busfield aka Poindexter from Revenge Of The Nerds).
