@JordanElek: I never once said they should stop doing hand held. Obviously you didn't read my article. Just because Nintendo is "gaming centric" doesn't make its games any good.

"I thought gamers hated mobile games... but now that's the only way Nintendo can get better?"

-I never said I hated mobile games, I play a lot of mobile games. You're being extremely assumptive. I also never said that going mobile is Nintendo's only chance. It's a little disappointing that you didn't read the article and decided to flame for no reason.

"The company that prides itself on creating experiences that people are willing to pay a premium for should abandon that level of quality and compete on a platform of <$5 successes?"

-Considering how Nintendo is doing right now you're wrong with this statement. The ps4 out sold the Wii U in 48 hours. Also, I never said they needed to abandon everything they do now to start on a mobile platform. Did Microsoft and Sony do that? So why should Nintendo?

"The company that designs its games around a specific input device should abandon the art of control-centric game design and focus on a platform with no tactile interface?"

-This statement is quite irrelevant as well. All consoles do this, whether it be a controller, motion detection hardware, head sets, etc.

Like I said earlier if you read my article you would have seen that I gave multiple examples of how Nintendo could improve.

@ANIMEguy10034: I definitely agree that Nintendo should not lose focus on their handheld devices. It's definitely their most successful contribution to the gaming world. I do think they need to broaden their horizon a bit though. They refuse to allow their iconic game series like Mario and Zelda go cross platform. I understand why they won't do it; they don't want to end up like Sega. This is why they need to make their consoles more appealing to a larger audience. Party games and mini-games don't offer a lot of value or replay-ability.

next time you decide to recommend games to people who have probably never heard of them, don't include just the abbreviated form of it... WTF IS SMT... how am I supposed to know that?
