8700 is far superior and with simply no comparison. The notebook versions 8600 and 2600 are simply, like their desktop counterparts, underpowered and overpriced for the limited performance they offer. PC game magazines that I have read warn that they lack the graphics power to even take advantage of DX10 games despite their DX10 support. If you want DX10 at full performance on a laptop, then the 8700 seems the only viable option. Otherwise, better to save the money and go with a 7900 Go and stick with DX9 until prices come down or better performing options are available. ATI will probably adapt a latop version of the 2900.
