No new Wii's are backwards compatible, you have to get a used one for that. Given the disc drive issues some Wii's can have, I would recommend buying a new one under warranty and buying a really cheap Gamecube online:

OK, can't wait! I have a gamecube somewhere, was just hoping to have a system which could do it all but that's okay. Will be putting my 360 and PS3 in storage and going full Nintendo for the forseeable future. I might even sell one or both of them.

Graphics don't matter. Art style is important yes, but that's about style not pixel counting. People pay too much attention to them. They are obsessed. I'd rather play Super Mario 3 than any of the current FPSs. wait for the game in motion, it will look fine!

For someone who is new here (Level 1), I like your ideas. Anyway, hope the game plays well (and comes over to the West).

I'm not new here I've just had a change of heart so switched accounts. :D

I don't get it, if you're bored with current consoles why would you settle for a PS3/360 then? You sound like you won't enjoy any of them since you're a big PC gamer?

Nintendo always holds things close to their chest. This isn't anything new. Just go enjoy something else for a few months and when the Wii U comes out maybe it'll get your attention again. Just because they don't get your attention 6 months before release doesn't mean they won't later.

This is what gets me. He says no consoles have grabbed his attention until the wii U was announced but now he's prepared to get one of the twins because of a lack of specs? Doesn't add up.
