@kidnatural @chillas99 And that justifies that GW2 should be catalogued as an RPG ? I think some people should go back to playing a bit of D&D with paper & dice to remember what the essence of an RPG is.
@forlietu @chillas99 GW2 is an MMO with fewer RPG elements than ME3. When the wave of "let's diss EA/Bioware for everything" will pass and people will actually be honest about their opinions, I think few (except hypocrites) will call ME3 a bad RPG (sure, the end was crap, but the rest of the game wasn't that bad).
How about an MMO category (with subcategories) ? Anyhow, in a few years we'll be left with one category: shooter of the year (see underlying critique of oversaturation of the market by shooters - MOAR RPGs damnit !).
@jimgray1066 Chances are you'll wait two years for a dumbed down RPG trying hard to add MMO/multiplayer elements based solely on economic analysis of the product.
I absolutely hate it when companies building single player RPGs spend development time for multiplayer/coop when clearly the main experience should be single-player. Specially when said company fumbled in the previous installement (DA: 2).
Failed to kickstart, but I still sent a 65$ for a physical copy of game.
The only aspect that bugs me when reading the Obsidian forums for more info on the game is the possibility firearms will be present in some parts of the gameworld.
How in the hell will they reconcile that with the fact that they want to continue in the direction of BG, PS:T, NWN, etc. ?
Guns, cannons, etc. were not that present in the Dungeons & Dragons setting (where all these games took place).
I hope they have the same balance between swords, magic and guns as in these games (i.e. firearms are quasi-non-existant).
If you agree with me, why not go vote in the "Project Eternity: General Discussion" part of the Obsidian forums ? There's a poll there (that I did not start) about the topic.
