@drnknnmd: I'd argue the shows are bigoted and racist. I mean how did the small town of two rivers have 5 different ethnicities in it. They were cut off from the outside world more or less. Are they so racist they refuse to cross mate? That's the only way they could have held those differences over multiple generations. This is us forcing antiwhite views in a way that is nonsensical..
What's amazing to me is that no one seems to care that somehow the two rivers people were so racist that while living relatively cut off from the outside world for generations they still have clear racial divides in their small town. That would require them refusing to mate with anyone who wasn't exactly their race. Outside of Rand who should look different having been born outside the two rivers, the entire rest of them should be the same people ethnically.
@supersizefries: Supporting @deathcharge1337 I'd point out two things. First not wanting to play an incredibly short game that is really just only ok is fine. We all have limited time and money the question is always why play rather than why not play. He's not saying he refuses to play games if they differ from his culture but it sound more like what I'm saying he isn't interested in games whose only virtue is being of a different culture. Secondly and perhaps more importantly, the entire premise of needing representation in videogames is based on your definition of close minded. Primarily in the US nerds have been skinny lil white dudes who sought solace away from a world that treated them like trash and as a result nerdom tends to follow that kind of thinking. Often in comics, games etc a skinny white kid does something he couldn't otherwise do. It doesn't represent women, jocks, etc because they often had a place in society. As games have become mainstream everyone has begun beating the skinny white kids out of the safe space they built for themselves and berating them for being uninclusive, the kids who built their own world because this one didn't want them.
@j3diknightdave: @ratchet200@sgtkeebler You're all assuming I feel like there's something missing from the game. I'm a crazy number of hours in on two characters. I really don't care what my player looks like I care what their stats are. I don't enter the wardrobe. There is no game missing and no microtransaction for a player like me. It's an excellent game and I've been enjoying it. Honestly game prices haven't gone up in a long time while everything else has, if they can keep prices from rising by selling digital content to those who want it how does that hurt anyone?
Gamespot just isn't reliable anymore, every review is someone's social/political op-ed. It's impossible to use this site to determine which games are actually good because I don't know if the game itself is fun, worthwhile, etc or if the reviewer just wants to support a cause they believe in. The idea this game, Diablo 4, Midnight Suns, and Star Wars Jedi Survivor are similar level games is nuts. Also, at $17 and about an hour its possibly the most expensive game comparatively I've ever actually seen. In terms of basically what does the game cost you per minute of play time you might as well be at Chuck-E-Cheese putting in quarters
I'm not going to lie I get the idea but I completely disagree with the conclusions. Truth in advertising has so completely failed the gaming market in the last 10 years that we no longer expect games to sell finished or even playable. That shouldn't ever be acceptable. I've gotten to the point where if a game has microtransactions or subscriptions I'm already out
When its 100% cosmetic items I think its 100% acceptable. I'm almost to 70 with my first character and I haven't noticed one issue with microtransactions. They are completely unintrusive in the game play near as I'm able to tell.
@hardwenzen: Not going to lie hollow knight is my sleeper for being on the list of best games of all time. I've 100%'d every demons/dark/borne souls game. That said I am absolutely in love with and always have been in love with metroidvanias. Then I'm 41 so I'm exactly the right age because I've been playing them since day one.
