One of the biggest draws for Infinite is its story. Now I wont get into what I think of the story itself(its meh) but as far as the way the story is told it actually hurts the story. The gameplay(which sucks) adds almost nothing to the story and in the long run hurts the story. One problem with the story is its god awful pacing. This game should have been atleast half as long as it currently is but becuase games are expected to be a certain length. As a reslut you destory the pacing of the story with wave after wave of repetitive shooting gallery. Do these add anything to the story? Does it add anything to character development? The awser is no its just filler. These waves also hurt hurt the believablitily of the story. Booker kills hundreds of people and just acts he and elizabeth act like nothing happened. Some people might say well its just a game but when they are trying to craft a fully fleshed out world it kinda hurts the immersion when you are playing a one man army. Also another thing that doesnt get mentioned a lot is the vigors. They seem to have no place in the world of Colombia. Why can you use all these magic powers and barely any enemy soldiers do and they are so easily attainible? This wouldnt be an issue in most games but in a game that strives for a fully believable world they hurt the immersiion the game strives for. The vigors were thrown in there so the gameplay wasnt completely terrible and it ended up hurting the aspect of the game that is most highly regarded.
I think the Bioshock does one thing right when it comes to telling stories in games and that is having such a beautiful world. The world itself tells a story. Unfortunetly in Infinite I think Colombia was much weaker than Rapture and it let the characters get in the way of the most important part of the story in a game like this the enviorment
