I'm thinking of maybe upgrading one or two components in my PC. What component do you think would provide the most cost-effective upgrade for upcoming games? My current rig is in the sig. Thanks.
My PC runs pretty much fine 95% of the time, however about once every hour it slows to a crawl for about 1 minute. It resembles an audio CD skipping when it does this, with games or DVDs going at about .5-1 frame per second. It doesn't seem to matter what is running, it just does it at a regular interval regar dless of what I'm doing. Does anyone know what could be causing this brief and predictably scheduled slowdown? I'm currently running an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ in my PC, and I was wondering how much of a performance jump I could get in my current rig by upgrading to a socket 939 Dual-Core Processor, such as the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ or 4400+. The rest of my system specs are in my signature. Thanks.
