@bumblebug then its not a problem with securing the house *monsters spawning inside* its a problem with the hit detection of glass panes which they did have a problem with the latest bug fix update to the 1.8.2 update fixes the hit detection for glass panes monsters could detect you and hit you through them they fixed it.

quick fix was using glass blocks instead.

@bumblebug have you placed enough torches? as well surrounded your living space with wood or other buildable material?
