Thank you for the help. Heres what I can say. If lets say I buy a car from another province in Canada, lets say Ontario. If I buy from a Dealer which I am planning, I would have to pay sales tax in Ontario. + I will have to pay tax in Quebec where I will be driving and that is not including the registration fees.

In US, what i am looking for, is that I will be buying a car from a Dealer. But lets say the car is 40000$ I dont have to pay sales tax which will add on on the cars price. The Dealers fees and all other stuffs is yes, I am aware. But what I heard is that you have to pay the registration tax or something if your planning to keep the car in the same State, while me I will just bring it to Canada, so no registration fees on that. Then, when the border comes, they are fees yes, but they are not sales tax which doesnt come up to thousands of $$$. Then when I will finish that, I will have to pay the tax in Quebec because the car is been bought outside of province + an inspection. So it comes up cheaper.

Right, Im planning to bring the car to Montreal, Quebec after the purchase. I heard that you have to pay some tax or something within a month if you plan to register the car in the State. But since Im bringing the car to outside of States, theres no charge if Im not mistaken (correct me if Im wrong).
Thanks

Yes, I think its called the Sales Tax, since its not the same as Canadas system. Basically what I mean is that the price you see is the price you pay. I just found some info on Wiki and there are 5 of them States (Alaska, Oregon, Delaware, New Hampshire and Montana). Since NH have 0% except for 9% Prepared Food tax, so that means if the car sells for 40000$, that means thats the price I will pay with no add-ons ?

Hello, I am planning to buy a car in the States by the end of the year. I live in Canada (Quebec) and I would like know which State close to Canadas border (Even better close to Quebec) that does not charge tax on a purchase? Like lets say the car is 40000$(US) and that price I pay w/o taxes.
Thanks you!!

Heh, sorry Amazon :P

Sunfyre, I have never heard or read bout that. That maybe in the States, but here in Canada, its kinda different. I wish it was like that since its sort not taken serious. He didnt crashed or hit someone, so its allready good. If that would be the case, then it could've been very serious since they can like accuse you of like using your car as a motor weapon lol...

^ LOL, Canadian Forces are in Canada ;) Anyways, the biggest question is whether they will accept him in the Army with a DUI record or not, thats the challenge lol. Other then that, I see no problem. By the time he will finish his training and all, he will get his license back or even start his training.

Thanks for the info, that was interesting to read. No, its in the Canadian Forces. He didnt had any criminal convictions before, nor it wasnt a hit & run. Just got pulled over and etc. He just have his license suspended and can have it back next April. Other then that its just that criminal conviction that bothers him. Since its first criminal record and it seems like already like ruins some plans. So I dont know if they will accept him for just his first conviction since its nothing like serious for me (compare to like murdering and all that)

Ye they do full background check on you so lying is useless. So ye, he is basically convicted and should put Yes as to answer the question.

Ya, he learned his lesson allright. So, then the answer for the question is that yes, he has been convicted with a criminal offence that a pardon has not been granted?
