I don't mean to stir things up but didn't Mark Jacobs ruin DAoC? He was also responsible for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, which was released in late 2008, and then seeing his departure from EA in 2009.

I've read about rumors of him being a very stubborn person, and pompous attitude.

I've played both DAoC and WAR. DAoC in its golden days was fantastic. WAR, on the other hand, was lackluster in every way despite receiving decent critic ratings. Subscriptions dropped off like flies within 3 months of launch. I played WAR for 7 months, on and off, before I had enough.

I believe in second chances when I see fit, but we could use a DAoC "successor." Let's hope Mark has learned from his mistakes. He needs better PR skills as well, because he makes Randy Pitchford look like schoolgirl.

I'm just saying, Mark Jacobs doesn't exactly have a good track record.

Elann2008

The concept behind WAR online was awesome, it needed some polish and more TIME (money) from EA, to make it ready for the PVP heavy late game content - if WAR had released with all PVP features working, it would have been awesome, but EA rushed it out, and dropped the ball on WAR before it had reached it's potential.

yea, sci-fi strategy games are in the low - most are historical or fantasy strategy games - we do have warhammer 40k  and homeworld - and a bunch of sh1tty strategy games - no1 likes sh1tty games -PC gamers especially - but good sci fi like warhammer 40k and homeworld are imo awesome.

My favourite of all strategy games, are the ones from the Total War series - splendid games in every way imaginable - good strategy part, good tactical part, mod support - which often results in decent AI and somewhat historical accuracy (depends how much of a geek you are, imo the historical accuracy is a bit off the side - but it's still 100x better than any other games to compare it with, except maybe some of the heavy strategy games from Paradox).

In short: If sci-fi strategy games are made the right way (homeworld), I think they are awesome - but if they are half arsed, I don't like them, just like I don't like half arsed games in general.

Im really looking forward to Rome 2, the best strategy game series imo. leagues better than anything else, i've played before, and i've played em all :)

The vanilla games are decent and fun, but the mods opens up the game, for a long timer after the initial release.

A good example is EB mod for Rome, which is one of the best games/mods I have played in a long time, even though Rome is from 2004 :)

kraken2109

Any good mods for Empire total war? Bought it recently in a steam sale.

I would recommend Darth Mod, it improves the AI, and have massive amounts of bug fixes - get your mods at www.twcenter.net - for all games in the Total war series - each "published" mod, have good descriptions and often also screenshots etc.

I don't think Chris Taylor shot him self in the foot - I think he acts with respect for his employees and I sure as wildman hope he makes it!

Supreme Commander is one of my all time favourite RTS games, and I would hate to see GPG go down.

Besides, if Wildman is a success, he (CT) will probably have free reigns on their next project, which could very well be King's And Castles (Supcom - but medieval style, HELL YEA!!).

[QUOTE="Legolas_Katarn"][QUOTE="kieran88"] Wasn't this back when DA was announced shortly after neverwinter nights? You know, when they still made decent rpgs.

bussinrounds

I believe so. At least we have Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity

Don't forget Chaos Chronicles. I did back W2 and PE and am looking forward to them, but combat wise, I have the highest hopes for Chaos Chronicles to be honest , as the devs stated..."Temple of Elemental shall be our paradigm" when referring to the combat system.

http://www.chaos-chronicles.com/

AND it's using D&D 3.5 Open Games license, like Knights of the Chalice did. So they'll be able to use the d&d rules, and a whole bunch of the monsters too. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Creatures

It's not a kickstarter either...

"How are you funding this?"

Beside self-funding with money from commercial projects we did, we've got funded by a german film funding called FFFBayern. To successfully complete the project we also receive payments from our publisher bitcomposer who is going to distribute the game worldwide.

Was not aware of this game, the trailer looks awesome though.

1. Fallout New Vegas - So many wyas to play this game, I am on my 8th playthrough right now.

2. Anno2070 - I have over 200 hours on this game, probably 3/4 that is singleplayer the other coop with a friend. Amazing game that never gets boring to me in continous mode. Also the latest expansion pack called DEEP OCEAN is wicked to.

3. Galactic Civilization 2 and or Fallen Enchantress - If you like Civilization you should enjoy these two games from Stardock, very simialir but I like em slightly more.

4. Total War Shogun2 and its expansion packs - Have over 200 hours on this to, and like anno the continous style mode can be played ove rand over and its different every time. Also can be plaeyd in coop campaign with a friend. Great singleplayer, good coop.

5. Gothic 2 - Another rpg that I have beaten a good amount of times (4 time) and still enjoy playing it.

My first thought is when do you have time to sleep?

Sleep is for inferior human beings

I liked DAO combat more than DA 2, but I would prefer combat to feel more Baldurs Gate'ish.
