@danielbirchal @bluefire1360 @Dbizzles danielbirchal raises a good point. Xbox live IS actually required to play games because all games have to be activated online before being played. It doesn't have to be "always" online but an internet connection is required. Therefore when Xbox live stops supporting the console you will not be able to activate new games, and therefore can't play them.
The difference between this and the VHS/DVD scenario is that if I wanted to, I could still keep my VHS player and tapes and watch them. Nobody blocked VHS tapes from being able to be played, so people still have the option to go back if they want to. Once Xbox live support stops say 10 years from now, the console will basically be useless and you will have that option taken away from you
@NTM23 I really don't think Microsoft thought through all the possible scenarios that could arise when they said this. Hopefully once they hear the complaints and issues they will address them, as your request seems like a very legitimate one
@bluefire1360 How exactly are they expanding the capabilities of their console? By adding features that have absolutely nothing to do with gaming and that people have already had for years?? Great now I can use skype on my TV!! Hey, I can switch channels with my voice!! Just more gimmicks to excite the average joe and do nothing to enhance the experience of GAMERS!
@Grimkillah @spectreSE7EN You have to activate every game online before playing it. This will link it to your account so anyone else who tries to activate the same game, it will be detected as used. Whether or not they will charge a fee for that is still uncertain
@spectreSE7EN @Vuyolicious @Prats1993 Yeah they said no online connection required for about an hour to silence people, then they came back and said you have to connect every 24 hours which still means you can't play games that you bought on disc anywhere without internet -__- . The same thing will happen with the used games issue
@devild0ogwhite Definitely gonna wait. Who knows, they may remove their other stupid features once they realize their sales aren't as good as they hoped
