GTS250 freezer, cheaper but gets the job done and best of all you don't need to worry about heat cause it doesn't get too hot

venjhammet

most of todays high end cards are ment to withstand heat but the demand says less heat so thats what the companies do to make the customers play at ease. A Gts 250 may have low heat but thats because its not as powerful as a more high end card like a 4890. I think a 4890 or even a 5830 will give you more of ur moneys worth and last longer in todays gameing industry.

[QUOTE="TrentDondasKhan"]The ATI HD4870 or 4890...or if your a nvidia fan i guess a 260gtx I got a HD4870 512mb and it powers through COD MW2 like a hot knife through butter at 1920x1080 res and maxed settings 4xAA. in conclusion, still awesome for the modern gamermorrowindnic

Hate to break it to you, but MW2 isn't a demanding game by any means.

There is a guide in the very forum that describes parts needed and their installation... I suggest looking it over and reconsidering a build yoursefl... You can do quite a lot with 1000 quid...

Just last night I bought a good Alienware. I was wondering how much I would need to install/ work on the computer after I get it factory direct. Will it be like an Apple, or a Blank Slate ?

ok so just edit crap in the bios got it haha. i want to upgrade to a 1156 but the lack of money is holding me down. I figure my E8400 is still really good for gameing. not the best but sufficient. and with upgrading the mobo and ram i can maximize its performence. And its still holding pace with moderen graphics cards

Upgrading to DDR3 will not get you any noticeable performance gain in gaming with a Core 2 Duo or Quad. Spending money on a DDR3 LGA 775 upgrade is probably the worst way you could spend money right now. You will literally see NO difference. Please, don't do it. DDR2 provides plenty of memory bandwidth for any Core 2 Duo or Quad. The best way to get more performance is to overclock that E8400. I had a poor overclocking (C0 stepping) chip, and I had mine at 3.8ghz 24/7 stable for 18 months before I sold the CPU, RAM, and Mobo. If you look around online, you're going to find that the E8400 is one of the best overclocking chips there is.. and you'll also find that a DDR3 upgrade for one is pointless.

ok no upgrade nessesary got it. i'll save my money for more important things

two beast PCs currently live at my place, one i7 920 witha gtx 275 used only for AION (an MMORPG) and photoshop, while my i7 930 has my ati 4850. so teh nvidia we use for more workstation style stuff (maya gets thrown at it from time to time) and the ATI is pure games with low power consumption over the gtx 275.

kungfool69
and if you want even a lower power consuminng beast upgrade the 4850 to a 5770. the 4850 is still good though

Windows 7 -- 32 VS 64 Bit --

i have 32 bit because i heard 64 bit cause alot of trouble runing games and alot of stuff arent supporting it.

wanted to know whats the + of 32 and what is the + of 64 bit

i know 64 bit is faster but how fast is it?

(note: i have core i7 930)

the big thing is ram memory. 32 bit win 7 will only support up to 4 gigs or so of ram. 64 can support much more like 16 gigs for example and can prolly support more. 64 bit win 7 is becoming the standard operating system for gameing computers
