@cfscorpio: Crackdown was always mediocre, TR is releasing on all platforms, Quantum Break is a movie-game trying to take the Last Of Us spotlight, and lol Halo.

@esqueejy @Darkhol0w Really? Because All I saw were bad aspects, mostly.

More action-y with even less regard to tactics. Great, so you can pause and move your characters. When did that become a bonus feature and not a key element of the game?

Is the game still shoving political correctness down your throat? Nah. It's worse. It's not even giving you much choice now, between a mangina, a pornstache mage, a "tanned" priest (atleast get the good girl (Isabella), not this plainess), and a furry (yes Qunari look goddamn furry in this game, and completely out of character to boot). Yay, diversity.

Story seems to be more grand in respect to DA:O, but the aftertaste of recent BioWare stories makes it feel dubious at best.

Do help me see how this is more like DA:O.

Hint: Being less like DA2 doesn't make it like DA:O. It just makes it less DA2, which is no standard to go by, to be completely honest.

@inertial_rage WAAAAH don't say bad things about games I like!

IGN5.9/10

Polygon6.5/10

Game Informer7.75/10

- GameTrailers7.4/10

Metro7/10

GameZone7/10

As you can see, GameSpot isn't alone in it's beliefs. On the other hand, many sites gave this game 8's and 9's.

So why do you care so much?

@inertial_rage Childish ad hominems won't make your argument more sound.

Kevin's opinion is his own, and only serves as his own insight into the game and his experience. You can disagree with it all you want, but it doesn't matter. If you already decided you want this game, go get this game.

Stop being a sissy that needs self-confirmation for everything.

I didn't need self confirmation when I got Dark Void despite it's scores.

@Jrounder82 Irrelevant to this review, irrelevant to Destiny's review.

Even if what you say would be true, if you need to play over 100 hours to get to the game's good parts, guess what? It's not a good game.

@Apofis_SG-1 No. That's absolutely idiotic to think so.

I can assure you that 90% of modern web developers and at least 80% of software developers would not be able to program a simple pacman game in Assembly.

They instead use modern languages, which build on previous languages as a platform, and those languages too, built on the more ancient languages that people barely use today, if at all.

This is called abstraction. The software used to build things at a higher level of abstraction is called Middleware. A game engine, for example, is middleware.

As Quantum computing evolves, such middleware products are bound to surface to make sure the transition from switch-bit CPUs to Quantum Chips is as smooth and abstract as possible.

@Banyek Are you for real? Did you even play Dark Souls? The games are nothing alike.

Words are words, and gameplay is gameplay. The fact they use the same words to describe different perspectives of a mechanics does not allude to the mechanics themselves working in the same manner.

Do not be confused, the way Dark Souls employs it's tools is much different to the way Bound By Flame does.

First, the level design of Dark Souls is not a "small corridor" one. It's built upon the area likeness itself. Some areas are very open, others, like labyrinths and caves, are obviously not. It's only sensible. Bound By Flame, on the other hand, is full of invisible walls.

Enemy healthbars being unecessarily long isn't a ctually very apparent in Dark Souls. Enemies are strong, but a good upgraded weapon can take them down easily, and if you're not able to, it's a sign that you either:

A). Didn't improve yourself enough.

B). Are not going at the enemy the right way and need to figure him out abit more.

C). You're not quite ready ot take on this enemy yet.

"Everything done by fighting" -- Dark Souls isn't a game of choice. It allows you to make decisions to change the course of certain storylines and allows for different endings depending on choices you made early on, But it's not it's defining feature, it's a bonus that gives it flexibility and replay value, in ADDITION to it's other features making it replayable. Bound by Flame, however, focuses on Dialog and story progression in a very streamlined BioWare'ish manner, so when it fails to represent it's story by any means other than it's terribly shallow combat, yes, it's reflecting badly upon it.

" Your chosen name never gets mentioned" -- It does get mentioned in Dark Souls. When you invade, when you ally yourself with others, when you interact with other players, basically. It gives it real meaning. NPC's only recognize you as the chosen undead, and that's the point, you're a nobody, and you can make your character out to be whatever you want him to be.

Bound By Flame allows you to choose a name, only to make it completely obsolete as the game gives you a different one, and creates a personality and background you do not choose. That's fine, but it's stupid to even choose a name then, it serves no purpose.

" poor dialog and blend voice acting " -- Bound by Flame had terrible dialog. One moment it's characters talk in a wierdly modern fashion, next they are speaking poetic medieval language. It's inconsistent. And voice acting is pretty bad for most characters with unexplained changes in tones that show unprofessional editing. Dark Souls dialog was minimal and spot on, and voices mostly fit their characters. Again, Dark Souls isn't even about that, yet the little it does, it does well.

"Unreliable target lock" - It really isn't. It goes absolutely berserk at certain moments. Dark Souls lockon is usually more than functional, and it actually requires skill to play without it, unlike BbF, where it's just making everything harder.

"Interruption and knockbacks from incoming attacks" -- All the enemies overabuse this mechanic in BbF, to the point the player is barely given a chance to even move. Scenarios like these in Dark Souls are posible, but rare due to careful placement of enemies, and are usually at part the players' fault.

"rarely findable combat rythm" -- Dark Souls is all about rythm... Bound By Flame can get very random.

It seems you really do hate Dark Souls for no reason, as almost all of the points you mentioned are actually the game's strengths.

@SrebX @TohouAsura NO. Conform as much as you like. These new "Modern" designs were made for idiots that see more than 5 colours at once and go berserk. Not fixing their damn code is their problem for hiring shitty coders.

I only came around for the news and unions, along with the occasional review. The news became more like gossip and worshipping everything developers say, the unions were killed, the review system got worse, and the reviews themselves... Sheesh.

There is literally NOTHING here for me anymore. I have Allgamesbeta for news now, probably the best use of a minimal design yet.

@ewjiml @blackroommate I disagree. Dark Souls was unoptimized as **** graphically and was pretty much Controller only, but it actually worked pretty good. Near flawlessly.

GTA4, was a terrible port and even modern computers have trouble running it sometimes, it's a total mess.

"No one should be allowed to define what a game is or should be, according to Quantic Dream studio head David Cage."

-- said by the guy who can't make a good game, only interactive movie.

No, hippy, the reason why games SHOULD BE defined is so dumbasses like you can't make interactive movies like Beyond: Two Souls, and then dare to call it a fully fledged game just to have an excuse to sell this short one way trip for 60$!.
