Honestly, none of those screenshots look good, not even the Xbox ones.

And obviously, I would not play this game on Switch. The console has had a large share of excellently running, visually impressive games. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is its most recent eye candy. Switch is “underpowered” and has some age on it, but it doesn’t have anything to prove performance-wise in any way.

@onesiphorus: The sales figures indicate that, over 132 million separate times, someone purchased a Switch, and the idea that it was “underpowered” didn’t stop them from buying it. It’s my favorite system this gen and probably ever.

But I also understand wanting to get the “better version” of a game available on multiple systems. As someone who has owned a Steam Deck and Switch simultaneously, it was an easy choice to get the Steam version for the Steam Deck if it was available on both systems. That said, Nintendo’s first party titles tend to run very well. Metroid Dread and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, as examples, both look awesome and run buttery smooth on Switch.

@last_lap: Not a bad point, though Switch’s third party is not too shabby, and the system’s portability factor make some third party, multiplat titles a preferable choice despite the system being lower-powered than its competitors.

And the first party stuff people “have to buy” is pretty darn good. That’s a list of mostly high quality games up there, some being the cream of the crop of this generation and of all time.

@last_lap: The PS2 is the best selling console of all time, and its best selling game sits at under 18 million. Switch has nine games that sold more than 18 million, so the attach rate seems pretty impressive to me.

@sargentd: It’s a great game, even if the Jabu-Jabu’s Belly dungeon (completed it today) was a nightmare! I’ll probably play Oracle of Seasons right after Oracle of Ages, as it’s also one of the few Zelda games that I have never played.

The Super Mario platformers are my all-time favorite series (I’ve played each one multiple times) and the Sonic games aren’t in the same league, but I want to be fair to the Sonic franchise.

It’s had some good entries since the Genesis days: Sonic CD, Sonic Advance 1-3, Sonic Rush, Sonic Generations, Sonic Colors, Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Superstars, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Mania, and maybe a few others. Critics and fans seem to like those ones.

Granted, I’ve not personally played any of those games above because there’s always something better to play, but I would like to go back and give them a try at some point. What I’m saying is that the series has not been a complete disaster, but it’s certainly no Super Mario.

I just finished another 100% run of Super Mario Wonder. I’m also pretty far into The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and hope to finish it this weekend.

This is the best “2D” entry in the series. I can’t think of anything that the others do better, and it has as many neat ideas as any 3D entry. I’m nearing my second 100% playthrough. Likely will be my GOTY.

I’ve already completed a 100% run of the game. I’m now playing through it with my wife, and I’ve started another solo run. Game is a masterpiece. I’d like to see a couple of direct sequels to it.

Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is the only one.
