@nikiibarbaro: seems like the reviewer felt similarly to other reviewers. The game isn't very good and doesn't hit the mark well, mostly everywhere....
@edviges: which is why people should at least give more than a passing nod to the indie movement of games... Not only are you getting games that are free from what the suits want to jam down your throat (first person persoective/third person perspective and basically nothing else... How boring and unspectacular.) but youre getting someone's/small teams unhinged perspective in a video game experience that doesn't need to be like everyone else. That's pretty cool.
@edviges: then what exactly is the point of a release date? What about the people who get in line to support the product day 1 and ultimately get an incomplete product? If developers want a score that justifies their perceived efforts then they should release a finished product.
Without reviewers holding them accountable with review scores, they can pretty much release anything in any condition and expect reviewers to wait till it's finished to review? Nah.
@santinegrete: I've played both extensively... Helldivers is my 2015 GOTY.
They are both comparable in perspective and on screen teamwork. Helldivers is much harder, much more rewarding when you finish a tough level, but Alienation does loot, fast gameplay and a more arcade type smash TV feel better.
Helldivers is it's own brand of challenging gameplay.. Friendly fire is dope and such an overlooked element to the fun and strategy of the game.
@TigusVidiks: I don't fault a game for not being as good as a game that came out after it... And I certainly don't base my judgement of what is "relevant" as solely being based on whether it is a "masterpiece". That's not a very honest way to perceive the relevancy of a developer.
Dragon age inquisition won GOTY awards... Lots of them. It was a great game... It IS absolutely a relevant title for Bioware, and it showed in the outpouring of critical success it had. Cant imagine spinning that.
If we're basing the worth of Bioware on who is still there from the kotor days, well... I'm not sure where to go from here. Developers change, morph, sustain, improve, fail over time.... To read, "Bioware hasn't been relevant since da2" is a laughable statement of epic proportions when they factually have better recieved games since that game. Hate on Ea all you want. I wanted Bioware to stay independent too... But I'm not gonna crap on their work over the past few years, one of which is a 93 on metacritic, the other a multiple GOTY winner.
