@leviathanwing Oh I agree entirely. The entire exclusive concept is stupid. I'd probably play the Halo games and Last of Us if they weren't exclusive. The developers get to sell fewer copies by locking the games to a platform.
@ALCHEMYSTO Piracy existing long before downloadable content. As long as there is something that costs money, there will be people who want to steal it. It's really that simple.
I wouldn't call the behavior foolish at all. I like new content. I'm willing to pay for it because I know it costs the developers money.
@ALCHEMYSTO I think the "tradition" died when we got the technology to update software easier. Such as fast connections being pretty widely adopted. Use to be when you released a product, you would have a very, very hard time ever touching it again. On the PC, players would need to hunt down and install patches. On the consoles, an update was pretty much impossible. Today that is no longer true, so developers have more freedom. And the community has responded in favor of more frequent updates. But on consoles, those updates come at a serious monetary cost.
You want to break the cycle? Take it up with Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony's certification policies.
@ALCHEMYSTO I paid $70 for my pre-order and season pass combined. Sure, go ahead wait until the end of next summer to get it all in one bundle.
You don't have to play the game new. But don't complain about something that is your own decision. All for what, an effort to save $40?
I see it this way, although $70 isn't peanuts, I could easily spend that taking my wife out to dinner and a movie. That's what, at most 5 hours? Borderlands 2 will easily provide hundreds of hours of gameplay. Where's the value problem? Seems like pretty cheap entertainment to me, even at full price.
