Given the high standards of storytelling these days, I have no confidence the current team from SE can create a compelling narrative for us to enjoy, so all we really have to go on is Sepiroth's VA performance and the combat system, as that for me, will make or break the game.

And yes, we all should be discussing SE's very greedy decision to split to the game up into parts a lot more, and it worries me the mainstream sites are completely ignoring this. SE's official reason is that it was necessary to achieve their "creative" vision for this game, which I think is absolute BS! This was a corporate decision disguised as a creative one.

It's fine to add more content, but make the base game first, then add the rest as optional DLC so those who just want to experience the original story can do so without having to fork out multiple sets of 60 USD over the years.

I'm a huge of fan of CDPR but this is just idiotic! Inclusivity implies adding options, not taking them away. What if the player wanted to play specifically as a male or female character? Why would they take away such options, it makes ZERO sense.

Those who are gender neutral don't care about gender anyways, so to add an option in for a gender neutral character is like adding in a option for literally "nothing". Gender non-binary is a way of life, not an option you choose at the start.

Is this article trolling or something? Of course you're going to want to replay the game multiple times, it's how it was designed from the get go! All Borderland titles are designed this way, with the inspiration being Diablo and other loot-based dungeon crawlers, all of which are designed for replayability in mind.

@gatsbythepig: The media have approached this completely wrong. There is very little wrong with crunch, it's only when the crunch is "forced" upon those that don't want it is where issues arise. Some people are workaholics and love the crunch, and they should be allowed to do this unless it starts impacting their health. Obviously, the real solution is better planning and managing, because you can't afford to have days where nothing gets done only to have to make up for them later on in the dev cycle.

Any development cycle where 90% of the game gets done in the final few months means that many things went wrong in the first few years and that needs to stop. That means lead/creative directors need to spend more time in the pre-planning stages of the game and figure out for sure what their vision is before committing. Too many creatives tend to just start the process having zero idea and then hope like hell something gets formed 5 years down the track. That may be fine for a single artist with unlimited time, but not for a large team that have deadlines to meet.

Akira is pretty much an adaptation of the manga, condensed into one movie. I'm not sure what Taika Waititi is trying to achieve with his version of the movie, but I doubt it'll be as good as the original anime movie, so he may as well adapt the movie itself. The anime movie was done by the creator of the franchise and manga and so it doesn't get any better than that. I guess Waititi wants to put his own spin on it and adapt different parts of the manga. I think it's a mistake, but it's on him to impress us, so whatever.

I was impressed with the gameplay systems they had on display. What I'm not impressed with is SE doubling down on this title being stretched out to multiple parts. Even more worrying is that they still haven't confirmed how many parts it will be in total, so it can range from 3 to 10 parts here. Ridiculous!

Never mind the fact they suck at storytelling these days, so more content will just be more opportunities to screw up the story, but this opportunistic greed really rubs me the wrong way. It's only because this is one of the most requested remakes in gaming history that they will get away with it, but that in no way justifies it.

@Iemander: Damage control, I think.

GS really needs an "Opinion Piece" section so the journos that need to vent can head there and do their thing.

How do I report Tamoor for trolling? I'm sure he's getting a real kick out of this. I'd at least respect his opinion had he done a proper opinion piece and explained in detail why he thinks the Raimi trilogy sucks, but this is purely him venting and to get a reaction out of the community.
