@T3H_1337_N1NJ4 Fire Emblem received an 8.9 back in the day. So if Fire Emblem: Awakening is better why only the 8.5?

@GameBeaten @Toadster9001 It's because Gamespot *does* matter to a lot of people.

@Kevin-V @King_Dodongo I think there are a lot of users who believe that Gamespot starts at a 10 and docks points for flaws in the game. However, there is another school of thought amongst gamespot readers where there seems to be a plateau at the 8.5-9.0 mark. Which is why many users are disappointed when a game that many other sites would give a 9.0 or above garners a "mere" 8.5 here. I think many Gamespot users have a love/hate relationship with the editors of this site because of this. Some except it this way, many do not.

@GaijinShogun @bongsyas_23 Besides Dragon Quest VIII and Final Fantasy XII when was the last time did SE put out a game of this quality? I snatch up everything SE puts out hoping to find something of this quality but that's few-and-far-between.

Before there was a Square Enix and it was just Square and Enix they put out game-after-game of quality stuff. Why do you think they put out so many remakes? Because their old stuff was gold. Now it's like the stuff they put out is often ho-hum.

@kuda001 I've played all the English Tales of Games and this beats all of them.

@norman69 Yes, this game draws from Level 5's experience with Dragon Quest VIII. Ni No Kuni is just awesome.
