Well, I stick to what I said before "everyone who has a Sony console does NOT know about Snake, while everyone with a xbox knows about Masterchief, and everyone with a Nintendo knows about Mario" and if you really think about it the only true mascots ever in a video game history has been is Mario and Sonic. End of story.

Please find me someone who owns a PS3 who doesn't know Solid Snake. Actually, just find me a gamer who doesn't know Snake, I will be very suprised if they don't, and how big of a rock are they living under?

Every person who know's about gaming, should know Snake, or atleast the MGS series.

Not trying to be a A-hole or anything, but you all sound like a bunch of fanboys. Snake is not the mascot.(what if MGS4 sucked?? would you still say its Snake? No). If you look at all the PS brands you will see they all have the Triangle, Circle, X, Square.

Have you noticed the fact that I own all three consoles? And I can safely say the PS3 isn't leading the current gen race at the moment, not even near.

And Snake is recognised as the Sony mascot, whether or not if it is an exclusive. And yes, if MGS4 sucked, it still would be the same story, Snake has so much history with the console, and Sony is the only brand where you can play through the whole MGS series.

And the triangle, circle, x and square emblem is a logo, not a mascot.

Snake first appeared on a Nintendo console, before the PS brand was even thought of. There's no way you could consider him a PS brand mascot. IF there had to be a mascot, which I don't think there does, it would HAVE to be something First party, and preferably an IP that has been seen on every gen. The whole idea of having a single mascot though is flawed. The reason Mario is Nintendo's mascot, is beacuase Ninty never comes up with new IP's. It's the same reason Mario is the best selling franchise of all time, it's simply because they just throw Mario into every 1st party game they make, whether it's a tennis game, golf game, racing game, puzzle game, platformer, rpg, fighter... I'm kinda surprised there's not a Mario FPS yet. Sony, on the other hand constantly makes new IP's. About a year ago, there was an article in GI comparing the number of original IP's over the past 5 years from all the different game publishers. Guess who was at the top?

I am aware of that, I know Snake neither started off on a Sony platform, or stayed with them from then onwards. Snake could never be someone who is an official Sony mascot, but is someone who is recognised mianly as being on the Playstation. You think Playstation, normally Solid Snake comes to mind, more so then with any other console/brand.

OK, just because you got all three systems don't mean your not a Snake fanboy. The only console I own is the ps3, so sine your right about the Triangle, Circle, X, Square being a logo, this means Sony has no mascot. If anything they're pushing Sackboy to be their mascot for ps3. As far as ps2 goes Ratchet and Clank sold more copies and was the more popular game between MGS and Jack, so saying Snake for ps2 is out as well. Psx both Crash and Spyro was more popular than MGS and don't even bring up FF7.

Trust me, I am no Snake fanboy, I praise games that deserve it, but I prefer many other games to the MGS series. As for your point of the games being outsold, have you completely forgotten my original post?

Right, so I've said Crash is the PS1's, and Ratchet is the PS2's, and I know they were more popular on those consoles then MGS. The reason why I said the PS overall mascot being Snake, is because there have been very successful MGS games on every Sony console, more so then any other series on Sony consoles, so it rightfully deserves the title of the overall mascot. And don't give me the Final Fantasy argument, because that is a franchise, not a series, and no one character has been carried over through all Sony consoles.

Definitely Ratchet and Clank, hands down!

Is a must PS3 exclusive.
