The screen is black and has no more message now. I took out the hard drive, and nothing changed (except for the xbox looking bald). Is that a good sign that my memory is safe and the hard drive isn't the problem? Thanks!

Oh yeah, when i first got the system, 5 profiles were already there. 4 were identical, even in avatar customization. The other one had quite a bit of achievements in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so i didnt touch it, just in case the previous owner wanted to recover it.

I am so scared, even though i have only 3 games (Bioshock 2, Just Cause 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), I got over 1590 G in my first sweep. I spent over 50 hours getting into every nook and cranny in just cause 2 and bioshock 2. I completed COD4 on hardened and Just cause 2 on expierenced. I put a lot of effort into these games, and i dont want it to be flushed down the crapper. Thanks for the help!

It's been unplugged for much more than 24 hours. Do you think the previous owner tampered with it? My mom said they modded it somehow, and there was already quite a few of profiles when i turned it on for the first time.

Ok... I recieved a used xbox for christmas. I just recieved a original used xbox 360 elite with just the system, cod4, power and av cords, and a controller. No box. No manuals. Well, anyways, i was recently playing Bioshock 2 (second run) and i kept switching between weapons for research progress, and i was doing a lotta things simutaniously very fast (I was in an intense battle, and i was pressing buttons like crazy) and all of a sudden, the screen went very low res, and lines appeared onscreen, It almost made the game unidentifiable. I quickly saved the game, and turned off the console. Just to make sure it wasnt the TV, i turned on regular television, and it was perfectly fine. I turned my console on again, and it had ERROR E74, with one red light at the bottom right corner. Im freaking out, because i put so much time into my only 3 games: just cause 2, bioshock 2, and call of duty 4. I got a gamerscore of 1590, and im worried my memory is gonna get wiped. Im 14, and I love my new xbox. Please help. Im not going to use the towel trick, nor send it to microsoft. I want help to fix it myself. Please help. I haven't even owned this console a month yet.
