@toophat2014: Absolutely not. I think you misunderstood my sarcasm and my attack on the OP about how ridiculous that claim was.

I think anyone who regularly plays a certain genre of games knows what to expect and can be a good judge of what's acceptable and what goes above and beyond to achieve excellence in a game.

That being said, Alexa's past history of playing the previous games make her the perfect person to do the review. I was saying that the people brushing off her review are acting like she doesn't even game for some reason.

@RS13: "but to cast such a bias opinion and to have seemingly no real interest in the art form she is reviewing, is nothing short of insulting."

I took that as him implying that she was a "fake gamer girl", even though she clearly states that she's played all the other AC games.

@BuzzLiteBeer: Or perhaps her experience with all the previous games makes her MORE qualified to review the game. Just a thought.

I love the Uncharted games, but I can objectively say that Drake's Fortune is rough around the edges, Among Thieves was damn near perfect, and Drake's Deception wasn't as good as UC2 and took a few steps back.

Who would you rather review a game? Someone that has history with it and knows what details fans want in a review and how it compares to the old games OR a new person each time that may or may not even like the type of game in question?

@RCT4ShouldExist: So because she's a GIRL working for a gaming site, clearly her opinion of the games isn't legitimate...even though she clearly states at the end that she's played EVERY game in the series.

Seems legit.

@Dharkanon @PeterDuck That is correct. Sorry for being vague or indirect.

To answer the question: No, not every game needs multiple gender options. Her issue seems to be with the reason, not the fact that there aren't any. Saying, "It's too hard to add women" means that it wasn't too hard to add men. This implies that women simply aren't worth the extra effort or that their business doesn't matter.

To clarify, I'm a heterosexual white male. One game I've played recently was the Tomb Raider reboot, and I thought it was awesome. In any games that give me the option to make a female character, I make one. You know why? Because our current protagonists are FUCKING BORING. Don't get me wrong, I love Nathan Drake and Booker Dewitt and a host of other "standard" characters as much as the next guy, but it gets old. When I played Saints Row: The Third I made a badass girl with purple hair. I then proceeded to wreck the shit out of Steelport. To me, having that option made it that much more awesome.

Furthermore, telling women "If you don't like it, don't play it!" solves nothing. Why? Lets look at the logic, shall we? Suppose they don't play those games. You know what happens then? "Well, there are no female gamers, so clearly there's no reason to consider them when making games."

No, games don't need to be able to check off race and gender on every box. What's sad is the people that are actually getting angry about this who are, ironically, white males. Is it really that hard to see other people that don't look like you having fun? Having a character that THEY can relate to? You wouldn't know. Congratulations. You're part of the problem.

I wasn't aware so many gamers are apparently hardcore republicans. This explains why the Call Of Duty games are so popular.

Your sense of humor is not unlike your area of the gene pool: Shallow and lacking anything of substance.

And that invalidates her point how exactly? Saying women should be more prominent in media doesn't mean that women should start dressing like they're Amish or they're being hypocrites. It means that choosing to dress how they want is THEIR choice, not one enforced by a society that wants to sexualize everything in favor of white males.

I don't see...correlation? If this is trolling, trolling is usually funny. This is more of a non sequitur. Are you Andy Kaufman?!?
