Sam: You sound an aweful like RomperStomper *if she was slightly ahead of the schedule I recall and feeling up to playing*. I just find this new account to be an eye-drawer for quite a few reasons..

At any rate, you need to learn to control Artemis (still) so you can use at least "Punt" on the 11 Hades Satyrs. You'll be wanting good control of the R1 abuse tactic for Ares1 *if you wish to end your run with bang*.

Gorgons are easily handled with the Blades..it can be difficult to use Artemis against a group of them.

Collisions work differently in GoW1 and I've yet to study how they work *IF I'll be able to figure it out*.

Ok I am now into the rings of Pandora and the challenges of certain gods I am past the first one which is Atlas, I didnt have problems with the mass of undead soldiers that kept respawning they were easy to get past, although I did have a few problems with the pack of Gorgans that came after but a lot of perserverance and I know past that. The next section with the few undead warriors up the stairs posed no problem to me I ripped them apart. The cursed archers the other side of the cavern were of no threat to me.

When I got down the rope, the section going accross the rope with the undead coming onto the rope to get me kind of gave me a few problems but I gave it a lot of practise and kept chipping away at it and getting further with each attempt I put at it and eventually got through it with no problems. Taking Hades sheild I thought I would have a few teething problems as I remember not being able to get past it first time it took me a few fair go's at it to complete it, but I think what helped me this time around getting through it the first time I had the spirit and Valour moves on the blades which helped me get through it faster than the first time of playing the game.

The next section proved to be a little tricky, I did get through the room with the rolling blades in the floor easier this time around than I did in the first but it was the section after that with the conveyor belt and the closing spike walls, they did prove to be a problem for me on the way in on the way out of that area I did get into the R1 command and that got me through that section unscathed.

I didnt have any problems in the sections with Atlas and raising his boulder to break through the doors, nor did I have any problems taking down the enemies down in this area. The wall on the way to the temple at the top was easy taking out the undead and the haripes along the way, I did have a few problems in the room at the top with the sirens and the soldiers with the sheilds, but after I got into my rhythm I got there and took them down in no time.

I got to the section of the circular arena and taking on the first 3 headed cerebus and also the puppies, well I had some severe problems there. No matter what i tried it didnt work for me, but in the end I went with a blast of medusa's gaze at the big Cerebus and then the good old trusty plume, and then I eventually got through there and on to the second set of desert kings. I took full advantage of the bridge leading up to the arena and killed them from there, and the archers well they were a push over, I got all the chests in the revolving room which I was unable to get the first time around.

The second section of that area with the Legion captains, they were easy and the mintaurs were a joke to me as I got further up because I now have level 5 maxed out blades and they were a push over for me. I am now into the section of where I have to push the crate with the undead soldier up the hill whilst taking out the undead warriors as I go up to fry him so I can get further. But I dont think I am going too badly at the moment and I will be back to keep you posted when I have got even further in the game.

EDIT:OK im getting really ****ed with this section of the game, I have gone to the tactis/tips thread and found the way to combat the legions in the most effective way possible and I can get that down, I can get the cage half way up the hill to the second rock in the ground, but its when those legions up the top start spawning I am having problems. I can not dish them the punishment they need and get to the cage in time before another one re-spawns any pointers on this section for me ?

Ok I left off last time with having got to the streets of Athens and the little battles there with the Gorgans and Harpies. I managed to get past that part eventually when I noticed what GMG pointed out to me, that whilst rolling around the Harpies didnt attack me leaving me open and ready to take on the Gorgans. I rolled around and got close to her a lot attacked and moved backwards or sideways depending on which direction had the more space for me to pull off my next attack. I mainly used The spirit of Hercules and the Valour as well which would slam the Gorgan to the ground leading me up to do an Apollos Offensive and then continually pressing the Circle button to grab and smash the gorgan, The 2nd Gorgan put paid to a few harpies for me with her stare which made the fight that little bit more easier and I got through that unscathed.

The next big battle for me was the Sirens in the desert of lost souls I got through that one first time with keeping a track on the siren and avoiding the Minotaurs and using them for health when needed. I am past the second set of Sirens at the top by the horn to call the titan, they didnt hold much of a threat to me I ripped through them quite happily. I am now into Pandoras temple.

The most anticipated fight of the game for me has come and gone in seconds!!!!! I so loved kicking those desert kings straight back to hell. I still havent found that sweet spot you are talking about, but what I did manage to do was get them both into the corner at the same time and just continously whore Plume/evade/plume and so on until I took them down without using magic or rage of the gods like I did the first time around. The wraiths in the temple were a joke I ripped them apart along with the archers which are of no challenge to me at all.

I have just got myself into the rings of pandora, past the first room and the room with the muse door, I have just aquiered the blade of Artemis, but I am unsure of what to do as GMG finds it a good weapon compared to the Blades of Chaos, so I dont know wether to stick to my blades which I am pretty well adapted too and can pull off anything I need all the time without fail or to go for the new weapon and learn how to use that. My plan is to still stick with upgrading the blades as they come in handy for me against Ares at the end and the clones also, I have to this point still not upgraded any magic at all they are all still at level one.

I finally mastered the Launcher and then the grab and slam move one after another whilst i was in the sewers against a minotaur, so I am quite pleased with that one I havent had the chance to perform that one again yet but I am going to keep trying to get that one going. Orions Harpoon is also working out for me when I get the chance to execute the move but I have found that I like the Plume backed with the spirit countered with the valour and I am finding that the more I play it the faster i can bust them out and in a larger quantity meaning one after another.

Ok I am past the streets of athens, I remember the first time around of doing this section and it gave me so much trouble, but I managed to get through it unscathed this time. I find myself being attached to the Spirit move rather than Plume I can bust more out and I think I have the minotaur fights down using them I attack backaway initiate another connect grapple and slam and keep doing that until the circle appears over their head.

In reply to the previous post with practising the Orions harpoon grab, I have managed to get that going it just needs a little more tweeking here and there. Although whilst in the streets of AthensI did manage to Plume a Gorgan assassin to the floor then chain slam her into the floor a couple of times to make a quick job of her. I am finding the grab and chain slam move useful for getting rid of a group of archers as well.

When I got to the square the first time around the group of Cyclops gave me a huge problem, this time around with evasive action and the spirit and the circle grabs I did manage to make light work of them I didnt need to kill as many humans like I did the first time around. So now I am looking forward to the desert kings just before going into Pandoras temple. I am not really using the quick roll R1 move as I find I am useless with it I find I can roll and direct Kratos to where I need him without using that but I will keep trying it as try to perfect it to a respectable manner.

The ornate rooms and corridors that followed didnt give me as much trouble as I expect too as I ripped through the armoured undead warriors in seconds with the Spirit move. Also I am getting better with the parry and face button counter attack it is getting rid of a whole host of undead warriors when i am surrounded by them, I am still not using that much magic the hand to hand combat is working out for me more than the magic which is an achievement for me because all i done in the first time around is whore magic when I couldnt get stuck in.

The Wraith warriors didnt hold as much trouble for me unlike the previous run, I found blocking was my best friend here and letting loose with spirit plus the L1+X attack to me effective here also rolling out of their way was effective for me also, I took full advantage of the barrier upstairs and crushed the Wraith and 2 cyclops upstairs without taking any damage at all. At the moment I am right at the beginning of the temple of the Oracle and here I am proving to have a little bit of trouble with the amount of harpies and then the spawning Gorgans, But I am sure that I will be able to get through them when I get used to the movement and everything.

So at the moment I am going great guns so to speak with the combat and less use of magic which is a good thing because it means I am not reliant on it and it makes no difference now when I do not have any blue orbs to replenish my magic bar. I am still going down the route to upgrading my blades before I work on anything else, and after I have them up to full capacity I am going to work on the PR and then I will leave and save all my orbs so I can upgrade the army of hades spell ready to take on Ares.

Also I am finding myself reverting back to the tactics and tips thread for GoW to refresh my memory on certain things that can be done with each and every enemy as I encounter them, I am also taking note of each attack that has been listed and I am trying them out along with my own style of fighting and it seems to be going pretty well at the moment. Whilst I am on my first run through God mode I have saved it to a seperate file other than the completed version of it and then I think I will save over the prvious file, because im not sure if I will still have everything to completion if I keep it saved to individual slots. Also I have been checking out the cheats page of God of war and I would like you to tell me if it works please GMG.

"Skip conveyer belt area When you first walk in to the conveyer belt area right before pandoras box you barely go past the entrance as to not activate the battle with harpies and arrowers. Immediately walk as far as your can to the left or right with running into a conveyer belt. Then walk forward next to the conveyer belt until you reach the first pedestal. Jump on it and you should be home free. Now you can liesurely walk to pandoras box without a battle.

The whole idea is that there is an area near the entrance that if you walk in it you will initiate the battle. By walking as close as you can to the edge you are not "tripping the trigger" per say. "

Have you ever tried this and does it work because I am not looking forward to that part of the game because when I first took that on it took me almost 8 hours just to get through that part of the game I was ready to put the game on ebay to sell it because it got to me that much. I know this is not until later in the game and I shouldnt really be worrying about it now, but I like to prepare for further tricky to difficult sections of a game beforehand.

You should be practicing the whoring of infinite air grabs/Orion's Harpoon for ease of God progression, but it is good to hear you weren't struggling early on. Each Minotaur would take 3 air grabs in a row to kill. 2 would set up for "O" usually.

I dont know what it is about the air grabs/orion's harpoon but I dont seem to be able to complete them one after another I dont know if it is because I am too far away from the enemy or because I have too many of them around me when I am attempting to execute this move.

It is also good you are parrying without fail. Exploiting is what you should learn after getting down these basic survival skills though. Against those Cyclops (Athens) early on, you could plume or PR them off the cliff for a quick victory..I believe it also gives you the EXP anyway.

The parry side of things is about to get a whole lot better since I have upgraded my blades to Level 3 and I now have the extra added effect of using one of the face buttons right after to counter damage so I am going to be trying that out as well because on the first run I just didnt attempt it at all I do not know why neither because its extra damage.

Of course going straight into a NUR would be too painful a transition. Good call in that regard.

Thank you! I have taken in as much information from you and other advanced users of this union and also reading all the tactis tips threads and so on to realise that just because I have managed to complete the game on Spartan, that doesnt mean that I am ready to take the challenge of NUR, maybe that will come after I have done god mode and I am still tempted to try the NUR out on easy before I jump intoa deeper level or I might just go for all the NUR's in each difficulty level to practise even more exploitation of combat and so on.

Learning how she reacts to things helps. Medusa (Gorgon Queen) is quite fast and cannot be infinite air grabbed/OH'd. She can be pwned by usage of those and PR though. RotG...LAWL *she was given no chance then*

I tried 3 times to kill that B**ch with just using the blades and she was that damn fast by the time I had reacted to her she had moved! So by the 4th attempt I though screw this Im going to have you now wench and just unleashed rotg's on her and cornered her, I also noticed that whilst in RofG's that when she done her Gorgan stare she couldnt petrify me at all so I thought I had the upper hand and just whored heavy baiting attacks on her and she succombed to my way of playing!

Have you practiced the Quick Roll/Dash Canceling methods of going faster? You should as it will help later to be good with those.

No I havent done that yet, I dont think I even know how to do it or if you have even mentioned to me how to execute that manouver, so a refresher on that would be good if you dont mind or point me in the right direction to read up on it as I have been reading the posts in several topics here tonight and noticed that you are dead busy with the videos and stuff and dont want to stop you from doing that as you have enough on your plate as it is.

Don't worry about a simple "That's not how I'd do it" from GMG..beware walls of text..they drop without warning >_>

Bring the walls of text on GMG! I would much prefer you to pick apart my method of doing something to be either done in a much more strategic way or a faster way to get a certain section out of the way. I prefer it like that as I find that with people picking things that I have done apart and explaining how they would do it or point me to places that explain how to do it I try to encorporate a little bit of everything that people have been telling me, so dont be afraid to wall text me.

~This is as too the point as I could have been here. Also, new vids up..

This was brilliant! It means that I am starting to learn and remember some of the information and tips that you have already given to me so you dont feel like you are repeating yourself or hitting your head against a wall. Also i will check out the new vids on Youtube as I have subscribed to you on there! Another learning curve for me!

EDIT

If focus on physical attacks will be your thing throughout *unless desperate*..then you NEED to learn to use Artemis this time around..especially if you ever decide to do a NUR/NUR+ on God as it will be very useful against the 11 Hades Satyr battle.

I havent yet got this weapon as you know because it comes later on in the game, but I am certainly thinking about skilling myself up wth that weapon as one of the guides I linked you too previously recommended that i used the Artemis for taking down the huge minotaur, but because I was inexperienced with it I found it to be slow and not to my liking but I will certainly give it a go when I get to have it and upgrade it like fun as I am currently upgrading my chaos blades at the moment!

Ok and I am back after Christmas and New year and back to playing God of War on God mode, I got past the 3 hydra without a problem I am better at evading with the side roll and backwards rolls they are what is keeping me alive, I thought I would be in for a bit of a fight with the first set of minotaurs but I managed to take them down in next to no time with giving myself plenty of space and using the Plume attack which made easy work of them.

The next part I thought would be equally as hard being they were cyclops. Tried it a couple of times on christmas eve and nothing I was trying out was working so I turned it off for the holidays and came back to it fresh tonight and using the same evasive action worked best for me I took them down in next to no time. Please note I am not doing a NUR I am just trying out the God level before I dip ones feet in such waters. The undead warriors are becoming a piece of cake to take down I am finding I am getting better with Parry attack, even thought I hadnt upgraded my blades to level 3 and not having the extra face button to counter off the Parry, I was doing pretty darn well to block and just counter when I had the space.

I did have a little trouble with Medusa, I found her to be a little too fast and not being able to keep a track on her without her coming at me with one tail whip and that was it Kratos was Gorgan food! But I managed to perservere and come through her with using the Plume attack and also evading her stare by rolling around and then I got so ****ed with her I just unleashed the rage of the gods and that helped kick her a$$. Ok so maybe there was no need for me to do that but hey it worked for me lol .......

I am past the sections after pushing the statue down and killing at least 3 gorgans and 4 minotaurs and a whole host of undead warriors, and I am past the Oracle of Athens, I've seen Ares, and I have got past the Minotaurs who you had to use the Gorgan stare on them whilst they were over some button in the ground to get past the gate at the bottom of the room and into the new section before the lil sucker came unstoned! I havent gotten any further yet my head is spinning so I am not in the mood for the game and everything i will try will come undone and I will lose my temper so I am going to start hacking away at it tomorrow night once I have put my children to bed. But I thought I would just come and update you as to what and where and how I've done so far, I will no doubt keep you posted when I get back with more gameplay and how I have managed to get past so you can pick at it and tell me I done it wrong or something because believe it or not that helps me more than just saying yeah well you didnt do what i would of done, the explinations kind of give me a new way to work off and I end up doing it in someone elses method better than my own!

EDIT: Ok and Im sorry I forgot to tell you how I am working it all out with the orbs and whatever so maybe you can tell me wether I am doing it the right way or if there is a better way of going around things and so on. I have taken to upgrading my blades rather than the magic first, as GMG will already know that I am a fan of the blades of chaos and find them easier to combat with, I am also not magic dependent neither these days I tend to go hand in hand combat rather than using the magic and im doing pretty well with that method I only ever use the magic if I get surrounded by enemies and can not get out of it and that seems to be very few and far between these days.

Ok I am playing it again on God mode this time and I am at the 3 hydra sections at the moment, I am finding the evasive action more handy to help me bring these down, and being that i have done the game once on spartan so far I am not finding much difference between the modes which is a good thing I suppose, and also I am faster with my reactions on the combat system being that I already know them.
