This is a comment that started as a post in reply to a video by IceyCat on YouTube. It has since been posted on the Ubisoft forums in one form or another as well. It has to do with a stupid and very frustrating solution that appears Ubisoft will implement soon regarding renown hacking. Instead of warning/banning those who exploit the game or coming up with a "proper" design fix, they will eliminate gaining ANY renown in PvE modes (Lone Wolf Terrorist Hunt and Situations that are replayed). I am outraged with the proposed solution. Here is my comment.

NOOOOOOO!

Yes, a very FRUSTRATING solution. Yes, there are people who only like Terrorist Hunt. I am a long-time Rainbow 6 gamer. I loved playing Terrorist Hunt in Vegas 2 and got to rank Elite 15. In Siege I only play Solo PvE (especially Lone Wolf Terrorist Hunt) 90% of the time and Co-op Terrorist Hunt with friends I know 10% of the time. I don't like and never play online multiplayer PvP. I am also not a fan of playing with strangers (which often don't have mics or can start team killing). I never have and never will use the hack these 3,000 others have used. So, this change you describe could render this game null and void for me and my friends. Siege has been my favorite go-to FPS on the Xbox One, but if they implement this as you describe I may have to throw it in the garbage. A stupid solution to a design issue exploited by abusers. This game was released broken. I put up with all the nonsense because the game-play was top-notch. It appears that either the dev team is quite small or not willing to invest the time required to properly address design issues properly. As you say... very FRUSTRATING.

It is extremely disappointing that implementing Alpha Packs (which creates a new way of generating revenue for Ubisoft) is a higher priority than protecting the existing game-play mechanics that people have gotten used to and many depend upon. If it were not for Alpha Packs this would not be an issue. So, what the dev team is proposing is not merely a bug fix, it is eliminating an existing game-play feature. Developers usually add game-play features. Rarely do they eliminate them. I understand Ubisoft has to make money on the products they make, but sacrificing a game-play feature to do so nearly 2 years after the game was released does not bode well. Ubisoft could disenfranchise a whole group of their users as a result. A stupid move.

I know Ubisoft can come up with a proper solution. I have worked with a software development company before. It comes down to what you think is important and what resources you are willing to invest to come up with a solution. Ubisoft, please stop making band-aid solutions. If you want to make money off of Alpha Packs, then invest the money and resources to protect a foundational game-play feature for many. Do the right thing and implement a proper fix that does not penalize players who only play these modes (legitimately I may add), or forget adding Alpha Packs altogether and leave the game as it is.

This is the cheap way out, and the only real reason why they are eliminating split-screen. First it means less time and expense developing the feature in the game, but more importantly it means a whole lot less iteration testing for their product assurance group - less time, less money spent, fewer bugs to fix, quicker to market. Don't tell me it isn't possible - I know script-screen is more than possible. So we lose a marque feature in a hallowed game franchise because 343 want to cut corners, or have under-estimated what it will take to get the game ready for a 2016 Christmas launch. A disrespect to gamers, the franchise and those many who still play LAN parties. Not everyone likes to play multiplayer online you know (I still have a large group of friends who still play frequently together on our Xbox 360s in the same house, System Link and Split-screen). BAD, BAD, BAD decision. Why fool with a formula that worked? Unwise. Split-screen was totally innovative in the original Halo. So be creative and innovative again. Do NOT throw out the baby with the bathwater. Bad 343, and bad robot. First we lose System Link on the Xbox One. Now we;re going to lose this? Absolute nonsense. This makes me mad at 343 and Microsoft and even less happy with my Xbox One.

I am beginning to think it is specific ads. Microsoft had this problem with some of their products (i.e., Sudoku and the Solitaire Collection). They had to disable all advertising altogether until they figured it out. This was only a few months ago. The same thing appears to be happening here. A specific ad just won't load properly and halts or crashes the player. Because... sometimes the ad will play fine and voila I can view the video. Other times the ad never plays and all I get is a blank screen. And if there is no ad, such as playing through a Facebook link, it works just fine. My guess is certain ads are being problematic, while others are fine. Either that or there's some difference in how the ads get transmitted (and one of the ways doesn't work consistently). So GameSpot troubleshooters, I hope I have given you enough information for you to chase this thing down and fix the darn thing. Thanks.

I really like Peter Dinklage's voice and was originally thrilled to have him as my companion in this game (being a big fan of Game of Thrones). But I found his performance wasn't dynamic enough. As I played the game it didn't immerse me enough into the game-play and story as I had hoped. I think he took too much of a subtle approach. Nolan on the other hand, perhaps due to his extensive experience, adds a lot more dynamic and makes everything he says more immersive and epic, thus raising the tone of the game overall. I am disappointed that Peter didn't work out and didn't elevate the game in the way it needed. Anyway, there are my reasons for voting for Nolan. And yet, Peter will always be a classic.

Harmonix was the original developer of Guitar Hero, but since Activision held the rights, when they parted ways, Harmonix was left in the cold and thus created Rock Band. Old news. But I loved Harmonix's game design for Guitar Hero II and the Rock Band games. Rock Band takes this poll, primarily because of the fun factor, great song lists that could be ported to the next game release, and the great design Harmonix put into their products. But I agree with those who have commented that Rock Band guitars were horrible, not built well and would break after a while.

There should have been other female characters included in this poll, but Lara gets my vote for those that are listed.

Skyrim is my overall favourite game of all time, hands-down. Oblivion follows closely behind. Therefore The Elder Scrolls was an easy choice, but there are great games in the other categories.

Definitely AC2. AC1 was classic with a great story and everything was new and you had no idea what was going to happen next (similar to Halo:CE). But AC1 was missing pieces and had a mission/quest system that was too repetitive, which AC2 improved upon substantially. AC2 also improved a number of game-play mechanics and had it's own classic story. Since then there have been way too many AC releases and everything feels as though it's simply rinse and repeat - though Black Flag was a departure with it's pirate theme (which is why it's coming in 2nd in the poll). I wish more developers took an approach to their marquee games as Blizzard and Bethesda does. Take all the time that is required to make this the best game it can be, then release it (and not until then). AC has become watered down. I don't get excited for the next release of AC like I do for Elder Scrolls, or Diablo (and other games of a similar ilk). Ubisoft has completely sucked dry the excitement and thunder of this franchise. But thank God for AC1 and the definitive AC2.

I have run into the same problem. When I try to launch a video (i.e., Who Did a Better Destiny Voiceover? or Fallout 4 History) either [1] nothing happens, or [2] and it indicates "First a word from our sponsors..." at the bottom, then nothing. The ad does not run and the main video never gets loaded. Something is broken. It happens on both my very new PC (Intel quadcore desktop running Windows 8.1) and my notebook (Dell Inspirion 15 running Windows 8.1). Shouldn't make any difference, but I am located outside Vancouver, Canada. Occasionally, a video will play, but I haven't done anything differently - seems completely random to me (except maybe it's not trying to play an ad). So, maybe the queued ad is the problem - don't know. In any case, I don't like the changes you've made to your website (dropping features, etc.) and how things no longer work. It's frustrating. Please fix these problems. Thank-you.
