@FLOPPAGE_50: (looks to the left at) GameStop, and its over a Billion in profit they sell used games and millions of people buy used games play them and sell back to GameStop.

(Looks at Redbox) millions of people rent games for a few days then return them.

Other people use eBay, amazon..... To purchase games.

THUS Although it will sell several million, H:ZD will be resold and rented millions of times more.

The PSVR sold out for first shipping date, any more orders are now shipping later. look at the shipping date or arrive by date, and compare to launch date.

There is new shipments happening all the time. So its sold out for day 1 shipments. and not future shipments. Maybe change the heading to Day 1 PSVR pre-orders sold out.

@scrollinglayers: I honestly just do not see this happening. IT IS POSSIBLE!

Like PC games that run on HIGH END GPU cards, compared to the MINIMUM GPU cards. The GAME is the same just the settings change form LOW to HIGH!

So IF Graphics are important to you then this would be a great deal. If not then sticking to the PS4 will be fine. The games will be the same only the graphics will be different.

Years ago, if you would have asked me if someone would pay $600.00 dollars for a phone then pay $600.00 dollars again for an update wither Iphone 3 to Iphone 4 or Iphone 3 to Iphone 5 I would have said that there would be no way that people would spend their money like that for a phone. Yet there are people who are willing. My point is its not the price. But if it is worth it for the person, and does Sony have enough people who are willing to pay the price they are asking.

That brings me to another part. Games. There are plenty of 3D games now out. Morpheus is a device that incorporates a 3D image and the controller in one. The difference is being able to see ones self in the game. Take a first person game.... like Destiny instead of using the controller to look around you use your head. Its the movement that will be difficult to pull off, though there is the omni-directional treadmill. or maybe Sony can use some sort of tracker that looks at the move controllers or body to input movement. ... What I am saying is that to change a first person game to VR is not too difficult. changing a 3rd person game will be more difficult. Sure the visuals will suffer some compared to a 1080p high end TV, but it will be good enough.

SO, the main question is will Sony back this with all it has or not. Sony should NOW be working with Destiny, CALL of Duty, Titan fall.... all First person games, as well as changing its games to VR, and developing new VR games. If Sony does this then it will be successful. I just see it, if the games/experiences are there people will pay. But one thing really bothers me!!! I hate the name VR The R is just WRONG its not nor will ever be close to Reality!!!! Not until we have something like the Matrix! So instead of VR it should be V interaction, or V presence... almost anything other than V reality, because to many expectations come along with the though or idea.

in comparing it to 3D. the difference is huge. TV a flat screen is seen in 3D the image is better but the cost compared to a same TV without 3D was not worth it then there was paying for the glasses which was just too much to make it worth it. 3D is not the same as TV in its conception. $400 for a TV is a non fancy vivo 40 inch TV. SO what I think is that its not the money but what you get for that money.

IN THE END. If Sony wants a great response, then they have to have a number of great games that show that it will work and games will play well using the tech. They can then show future games made just for the tech and explain how they will back it with working with developers small and large to use the tech in their future games. The headset itself needs to be able to do the job, even if it cost $400 and comes with a co-processor to enable it to work well. Because its better to cost more and give a great experience than cost less but not worth it.

@MonsieurX: IF they get all the games to work on their Steam OS. and I can get an inexpensive box using AMD FX9590 Raden R9 300x for around 1000. I would get it.

It's a developers/publishers choice on what frame rate and resolution a game lands on, no matter the hardware there will always be choices on available resources, especially consoles which are static hardware. It's going to be like this with the PS5, Xbox 4, Wii Ux2, PS6, Xbox 5, PS7, PS8, PS9, et cetera.

Frames per second and Resolutions are just the tip of the iceberg for devs as they have to consider physics, AI, art assets, textures, size of the level, et cetera. There will always be restrictions to deal with, even with PC games. You can only create what the hardware or graphics card allows. If you prioritize 1080p and 60fps, it's only going to remove other aspects of the game you are designing. Juggling frame rates and resolutions is going to be an issue with the PS5, Xbox 4, Wii Ux2, PS6, Xbox 5, PS7, PS8, PS9, et cetera. There are a lot of pieces to a game's creation and you looking at two tiny pieces of a huge puzzle will only confuse you.

Devs have a tough job juggling FINITE RESOURCES because a Game is more than simply "FPS" and "Resolutions".The PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and more could do 1080p and 60fps. You probably wouldn't like the game, but it could be done if that was the only goal. Some Pong type game, perhaps.

With regards to juggling limited resources, this was true every gaming generation and I spoke of this subject multiple times over the years since 2005 here in SW. The developers decide on how they are going to juggle their resources and we either get a great game or not. The issue is more about buying a $250 machine, a $400 machine, or a $500 machine and judging performance between those three machines. To be honest, it looks to be the console graphics race is between the $400/$500 machines. Neither machine will be able to do 1080p/60fps for every game, especially when the really ambitious developers and games start releasing and start pushing the consoles hard, but the PS4 will offer developers more juice than the competition.

Just be content when we get a cross-generational PS360 game unscaled on the new machines if all you care about is resolutions and frame-rates.

---

Let this be a lesson to stop reading PR and marketing like it was written by Jebus H. Christ himself. You also seem to be confusing people's arguments and fan-boy bickering with what companies actually stated. Sony in particular said their machine can do 1080p, and it can. It doesn't mean you should expect it. Same for Xbone, Wii U, etc. The machines can do 1080p/60fps, hell the PS360 could do that. It's up to the developers vision of their game. Nintendo, Xbox, and Playstation are game machines/companies, the other 3rd party developers decide on their game's specifics.

This is the truth. Sad that people only look at visuals...ITS clear that not much has changed when playing games. Yes the visuals are a little better but the games are the same. It would be a better resource to focus on AI instead, or environment that is interactive physically. 1080 or 720... even at 480 stable 40fps with great AI I would take that better than 1080 60fps!!

I know people are just trying to be dense, but the point is that these are "day one" consoles. It's three months later and it turns out they're not the special snowflakes that Microsoft wanted them to be.

Try not to be so defensive, guys.

^^ exactly.

The XB1 has power but it is not all for the developers to use. XB1 IS an ALL in ONE set-up box. Its a multimedia machine, in between a PC and a console. XB1 runs a limited general use OS, Apps, Games and communications. It does this ALL very well. To achieve this balance the XB1 had to divide its power from the ground up and thus XB1 gaming ability was sacrificed. This was more that what the PS3 did though at least Microsoft knew not to use the tag line "it can do everything" as PS3 did.

Now Microsoft is trying to add some power by taking away power from Kinect if need be by developers. Which leads me to think before November there will be a kinectless XB1 for 299 . i'm sure that will help sales.
