  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Motherboards with built-in Wi-Fi and are they worth it?. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Are they worth it? Well, you can just compare the prices. But you don't chose motherboards based on that, you look at the VRM section first, then expansion and USB slots, M2 slots, fan headers, onboar...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Which companies do you want to see go out of bidness?. on the Off-Topic Discussion board

Coca-cola. I actually felt kind of disgusted when I typed it.

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Your GPU evolution.. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

I currently own GTX 1060 6GB from this year. Before that I had RX 470 4GB that I bought 2 years ago. This wasn't a planned upgrade, tho, my poor Sapphire was electrocuted by a thunder (which I forgot ...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Have you ever seen or experienced racism?. on the Off-Topic Discussion board

No, since here in Serbia we are pretty much all white. But I did see nationalism, which I think requires a special kind of stupidity, as you divide people to "us" and "them" while they are literally ...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Advice on upgrading motherboard, CPU, RAM, and cooler. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Good choices, definitely go for 2 sticks of RAM. You don't need to change the cooler for performance, D15 is marginally better, but maybe it has better RAM clearance? It's something you need to look i...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Do you prefer Mayo or Mustard or Ketchup sauce?. on the Off-Topic Discussion board

@carljohnsoncj: What a silly question. All three go with different meals. Mayo with sandwiches, and also as a dipping (if that's the word) for salty snacks and cheese, mustard with sausages, all kinds...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Best games for ATI Rage Mobility 128 Pro?. on the PC/Mac/Linux Society board

My favorite game of that time is Populous III The Beginning. I have no idea what GPU I played it on, but I think it was 64MB. It was on my cousin's PC, and I got my first PC in 2003. I tried to play t...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic A few questions about my planned upgrade.. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Yes, it'll be very worth it. But since you're going with Ryzen you'll want ~3GHz RAM, or sticks that can be OC'ed to that speed. I don't think anyone can tell you exactly how long your GPU will last....

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Will my PC be able to play FPS games like Fortnite, PUBG, Overwatch, and R6 Siege well?. on the PC/Mac/Linux Society board

It's a well balanced PC, PUBG is playable but maybe it will stutter with 8GB RAM. You can add more later of course.

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Windows games running on Linux. on the PC/Mac/Linux Society board

$100 does sound like too much to pay for Windows, that's why I bought my key at one of those cheap sites for something like $20. I doubt I'll ever switch to Linux, even if I had to pay more. Windows h...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic AMD or Intel.. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Both Intel and AMD offer good CPU's. I chose Intel because I could reuse the CPU cooler I had and I didn't have to worry about RAM. AMDs' are a little picky with memory, and their overall performance...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic 9900K and 9700K. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

More cores and higher clocks, but still 14nm. Sounds toasty :). It will be interesting when Ryzen 3000 comes out, AMD might actually be ahead of Intel with the fabrication process. Performance is alr...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Anyone recently upgrade from Sandy Bridge?. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Assuming you have 8GB RAM, if you could find the same sticks used for cheap you should do that. And like the others mentioned, do a fresh Windows install. 2600K is still a solid CPU, you should wait f...

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Opinions on Cases. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Fractal Design Define R6 would be my pick. It has one external 5.25" slot behind the door. It's a mid tower case, tho. Define XL (something) would be the full tower version.

    @moab: GTX 1060 6GB.

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Suggestions for an SSD. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

@moab: I have constant 60fps in PUBG, except when a bomb falls really close. But I'm all for SSD, it's faster and completely silent. Just can't afford to change my HDD's for SSD's of equal capacity.

  • PfizersaurusRex posted a message in the forum topic Suggestions for an SSD. on the PC & A/V Hardware board

Samsung 860 Evo (SATA) is the best deal in my country when you consider warranty, whether it's 500GB or 1TB. I have 850 Pro 256GB which has the same kind of warranty (TB written/capacity), and at the ...
