@Tirnoth: Epic doesn't care about putting in features or being pro gamer,, they care about one thing, and that's being the only one.. You can see by the things Epic does they don't care about competition.. Look how Epic says Steam is being unfair and holds a monopoly, but then goes and buys up exclusive rights to games..

@seanwil545: yep all these new gamers don't realize how dead PC gaming was when Valve stepped in and saved it from utter ruin.. I have 16 k games,, Epic giving away a few games I already own isn't going to sway me.. especially when they offer nothing else to go along with their platform..

Shame that these newer gamers have no knowledge of history past and the praise Valve should get for actually resurrecting PC gaming from the dead..

@nabinator: it has to do with the fact that Valve didn't want developers putting their games for 25 dollars on steam, then selling them for 10 dollars somewhere else, They wanted to make sure that developers kept their prices the same across as PC platforms..

I can see it from Valve's point and I can see why developers might want to circumvent that if they wanted to say sell the game on their own websites and avoid paying the 30% to valve.. Either way this probably is backed and financed in someway by Epic which offers zero features on their store, and somehow seems to think gamers are just money signs.

@pal2002: used PC gaming, this isn't 1995,, Used PC died out thanks to One time use codes with every game you purchased.. in fact PC gaming nearly died altogether until Valve came along and saved it by making the platform for retailers to release their games on the pc.. but people tend to ignore how PC gaming was nearly dead with only some AAA games and MMO's being just about the only PC games for a long time..

First three days of the event I got all the backgrounds, emoticons, etc etc etc.. I got like 60 - 75 dollars in 5 dollar vouchers, and 101 levels on my steam badge for the sale..

Still has a while left, i'm sure in that time i'll get another 5 dollar voucher or two.. ultimately I'd say this sale has been ok.. not nearly as good as the cards when i'd pull down 150 - 200 selling them but meh.. good enough I guess..

@heqteur: yep, if I wasn't lazy I would just create a few more epic accounts for the sole reason of putting the free games on them.. screw Tim Sweeney, screw epic games, they can go frig right the frig off..

@Thanatos2k: They aren't selling games on epic.. All the sales figures released by Epic are fluffed up by the 250 - 300 k games they promise a developer will sell by launching on their store as part of the package they have for exclusive games.. It's the funniest crap ever when a developer is like. we sold 500 k copies on Epic, we're doing awesome, but you go and subtract the 250 k epic buys, then it looks quite sad... It's why more developers aren't rushing to release, well the ones that aren't being bribed with exclusive money aren't..

@Jinzo_111887: wasn't Sweeney the same guy who a few years ago was crapping all over PC gaming?

@angrycreep: why is steam greedy, because they are taking the industry standard of 30%... the horrible greedy gaben.. Meanwhile look at all the features you're having on steam.. Storepage is like 30k games deep (if you include all the removed games and deslisted games, demos that never released, etc etc etc etc..

Trading cards (give you a few bones which can eventually get you something you like, for games you already own), achievements (I guess maybe Epic will pull them in after they get to the cart in 6 months.. err 12 months, has it been over 6 months since they launched, still no cart right?)

Marketplace, another place to make a little bit of cash to buy games you want by playing games you're already playing.. Pull down a skin for a game you're playing you don't like.. put it on the marketplace get a buck or two, then buy a game, or get a deeper discount on a game..

Reveiws.. from the funny, to the trolling, to the technical, to the legit.. Why would you let a developer opt into reviews.. unless you want to give them more power to hide the truth about their turds.. Pull DCMA's on youtube, opt out of reviews on Epic games.. sure you'll eventually know the game is garbage but will require far more work..

no forums.. so no place to congregate and talk about the game... find people to play games with... get technical help on the game. post random fan art from the game.. NA no thanks, cause that might cut into the bottom line.. Gotta cut out anything that might cost a few pennies..

@ahpuck: want to stick it to epic, create an account and pick up the free game... they pay the developers for the games, just never install them or install the launcher and you're golden..
