@DaneGamer The gamecube controller was my favourite controller of all-time. and I agree that the xbox is a well designed one.

But I would NEVER want Sony to change its controller design. I've been playing with the series since the PS1 through PS3, alongside all the Vita/PSP in between, and I've got to say that I am WAY to used to it to want to accept anything different.

People seem to forget that although the playstation controller isn't the best designed one, it has a familiar feel to all of its fans, so why change it when "controller familiarity" is one of the most important aspects in "mastering" gaming?

The thing is, people like to think in retrospect that they know what the best solution might have been. But barring from the fact that greenlight and kickstarter were not established then, and that the only game ThatGameCompany had to show off was FLOW, it is quite a surprise and miracle that Sony even wanted to contract them for an additional two games. What we have to understand is that ThatGameCompany needed to jump on whatever opportunity they had, since they were just a start-up.

Besides, let's suppose that both kickstarter and greenlight were up and running during the time of FLOW, do you really think they would have been just as successful? There are a LOT of projects on kickstarter, and to be honest, I don't think the gameplay (or lack thereof) of FLOW would have attracted the general audience. Neither do I think greenlight would have 'green-lit' the project, after following up on the difficulties developers face (I'm having David S. Gallant in mind) on having their game approved by Steam.

And what about Microsoft and Nintendo, would they have picked up on the project? We're assuming that ThatGameCompany never went to them with their ideas. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. But the likelihood that Microsoft or Nintendo would have picked up the game, in my opinion, would be miniscule.

I think we should at least give Sony some credit for having faith in the studio to produce innovative games. Sony signed them to a contract of TWO more games, only after having a glimpse of FLOW. To me, that seems like a lot of trust. And it paid off...
