um, last I checked, it was the consumer that paid for the product. no consumers = no money. so maybe you should, I don't know, keep the consumers happy and not bring those terrible policies back.

@Detroman thats cool bro but do you not see anything wrong with being unable to borrow a game from a friend without having to pay to play it? do you not see anything wrong with needing a constant connection to the internet in order to even play your console and games that you paid for and should be able to access whenever you please? i understand what you're saying but before they branch out with these other features, they need to ensure that its primary function is the best it can be and so far, it doesn't seem like it is and worse, they don't seem keen on changing that.

gotta say, feels like MS shot themselves in the foot with its current announcements. with things such as people having to pay to play used games, needing to constantly being connected, no backwards compatibility, and a heavy focus on features we can easily do on laptops, smartphones, etc, i dont think ill be in line day one if at all. im not looking for an all-in-one package, im looking for a game console.

score is lower than i was expecting but ill still pick this up. heard it was a monster for the ps2 and i dont really want to miss it when my friends do nothing but reminisce on it. the frame-rate issue is a downer but the repetition and bad dialogue definitely doesnt affect me. its been more than a decade of gaming for me and i wont be stopped by such minor flaws. i mean, it could be worse. (looks over at Duke Nukem Forever and Phantasy Star Universe) *shiver*

i think we should have more discussions like this. its an interesting topic to me and ive always felt people try their best to tiptoe around this topic. thats sad to me. i believe it is through discussion that knowledge is gained and i love to see the different standpoints that people have.

never seen an article on Gamespot like this but gotta admit i like it. i really hope that one day games won't be looked at with contempt by anyone of any faith. it is understandable that not every game is gonna be a sparkling tribute to god but that is no different then any other media. these things are not "evil" but rather just a representation of a world created in the minds of men. rather then mark it as something to be looked at with disgust, they should recognize it as an opportunity: a chance to get people to FEEL and SEE what they wish to teach. while they don't need to be direct translations of biblical stories, they can do what the games above have done: focus on one specific moral and build an atmosphere and narrative to get you to further know about and understand the chosen topic. that way, those who don't believe in whatever faith it is can enjoy a great atmosphere, story, and game without feeling like religion is being shoved into their face. win win.

A very well written article. These publishers should realize that they are on thin ice here. many people are having a hard time in this economy and, rather then spending $60, they wait for the price drops and sales occur so that they may buy the game at a much lower price. with the cost of everything rising, people have it hard. they want to be able to continue to enjoy their favorite hobby, preferably at a cheaper cost. raising the price by adding online passes or removing content to sell as DLC won't make people buy them but instead, as the author stated, will push away customers. even if people do have the money to afford it, they may feel like they are gettin ripped off and will also sheer away from that publisher.
