When I was younger I was intimidated going on my first roller coaster, but now I'll go on pretty much anything with no problems. You kinda just gotta suck it up and start going on rides if you want to overcome your fears.

A lot of guys - not all - but a lot of guys that use the "nice guys finish last" phrase tend to have greater issues than them just being "nice guys". For instance, many guys I've known that use such phrases tend to lack confidence more than anything, and others have super high standards for girls that also have super high standards. Live life and be optimistic, girls notice guys that have positive energy. Guys that spew negativity over the "nobody likes me" BS only rubs off on others, and it lessens the chances of being noticed.

Critics and moviegoers have been praising the film for its wild concept, witty and entertaining dialogue and fun characters; at the end of the day "The Cabin in the Woods" was not intended to be dissected to bits and pieces. It's a piece of entertainment and I feel you are forgetting that fact. You're tainting your opinion due to logic and suspension of disbelief. There were no plot holes so to speak in the film, just some elements left to audience's imagination.

Every time I see a character with a varsity jacket I already know they are probably the cocky snob who dies first. Instant turn off.

The movie was meant to have cliche teen stereotypes to pay homage to all the old slasher films. The way the movie evolves is what makes it unique from the bunch. And no, the jock didn't die first.

So the trailers have huge spoilers? I've already seen the trailers so is it pointless to go see the movie now?

hoola
No it's not going to ruin your experience if you already seen the trailers, it's just my discretion to anyone who have not seen the previews to avoid them and go straight into the movie. It's better to watch it not knowing a thing.

If you took every slasher film ever conceived, this movie is practically the reason for why we have all these horror films. I know that's going a long ways, but the movie creates its own rules that pays homage to every horror film that came out over the past century, and strangely enough the premise works and it's just awesome. When you guys see it you'll see what I'm talking about.

So I saw this horror flick last night and I was very, very pleasantly surprised by it. In a world of remakes and franchised cash-grabs, it's really hard to take the horror genre seriously anymore, but I think this one was a nice change of pace. I suggest people avoid the trailers like the plague, as they contain mega spoilers, and the main poster selling the film is horrific.

Anyways what made the movie great was not only did it have a great premise for a movie, but it was very self-aware of the current state of the horror genre and how everything's become cliched and unamusing to most audiences. "The Cabin in the Woods" plays along those cliches part way through to make the audience comfortable with predictability in Scooby Doo fashion, all while making fun of them (The movie is part comedy), but once the mega plot twists occur, everything gets turned upside-down and awesome things were to be had. The movie at this point basically turns almost into a love-letter of sorts to all things horror. The movie itself is not mindless; it's got plenty of wits and it does not assume the audience is incapable of figuring out basic math.

"The Cabin in the Woods" opens today, and I highly approve of it. Anyone else planning on seeing it?

EDIT: The movie also appears to currently hold a 92% approval rating on Rottentomatoes. Critics generally don't buy into horror films, but they seem to be all over this one.

I got off from work really late one night, and all I really wanted to do was go home. A random stranger asked to use my phone so he could call a taxi. The taxi driver did not pick up. His wife and daughter then showed up. I then offered to give them a ride home myself. When I got to their apartments they asked me how much money they owed me. I told them that I did the deed not expecting money out of it and that they don't need to worry about giving me money. The guy told me that the deed would be returned in some shape or form some day.
