what does it really add that owners of the game will want? I wouldn't even replay the game with the free update. I've moved on and I'm sure many who beat the game have moved on too.
This game is being sent out to die. I can buy this for like 5, 10 bucks; is the improved boss fights and some touch up worth it for the premium price.
Calling it right now, once this sells poorly SE will act all surprised and say the Nintendo fanbase hates their games.
"We just don't understand why a game released in 2011 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the computer that was then released in 2013 for $50 on the Wii-U and $30 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, could be purchased in full for $5 to $10 on the computer and was released a mere two weeks before the launch of two new video game consoles, didn't sell well on the Wii-U. It must be Nintendo's audience!" - Square Enix on Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut poor sales.
If a PS3 game wins it's not going to cause major butthurt. As it stands a good chunk of the SW crew favors PS right now and 360 exclusives have been weak/non-existent so they have nothing to go off of. The chances of a launch title for the One or PS4 winning is also slim since the majority seem unimpressive.
What would cause butthurt would be a PC exclusive, Wii U exclusive or a handheld title winning it all. PC exclusive would likely be something console gamers are not familiar with in the least. Wii U exclusive would cause the sheep army to rise and claim dominion over all (true story) or a handheld game would leave everyone flabbergasted (yes, flabbergasted).
You play a role and get the world/characters to view you in different ways. So I don't get what people expect an RPG to be.
Simply playing a role isn't sufficient. Technically you're playing a role when you play Super Mario.
Affecting the world as a direct consequence of your decisions, Is one valid requirement, but there are others. And that one requirement implicitly itself requires that the game provide you with menaingful choices.
When you play Super Mario you do not play a role. Mario is a pre-defined character, he does not change.
Hell yeah Shadowfall looks generic. As soon as I saw the first video they showed for the PS4 I was rolling my eyes. On the other hand you have games like Titanfall and Destiny that actually look like they're trying to break from the mold.
So right now it's Devil May Cry on PC and The Last Story on Wii. I tend to have access to the Wii on a more limited basis since it's in the main room where everyone uses the TV, whereas with my PC I can play without hogging the television.
Just a few days ago however it was Valdis Story: Abyssal City on PC and Skyward Sword on Wii. Once I beat my current batch of games on each system I'll swap to new ones.
As far as my phone, anything goes for that really.
