That's because most "progressive" ideals are regressive.

Both games are overrated. Bloodborne is the best game this generation.

God of War, Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus, Crash Team Racing, Gravity Rush, WipEout, Drive Club, Motorstorm, Demon's Souls, etc all have fantastic gameplay in my honest opinion.

Awesome. The music is amazing. Finally, he's no longer fettered to MGS.

Even though the trailer did tell us anything, it has me really intrigued.

@AdobeArtist:

Other than theme/aesthetics, in what way is Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma western influenced? No western game has the gameplay/combat as Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

just because they don't look like typical anime characters does that mean it is western influenced. Is Killer Instinct or Mortal Kombat eastern influenced? Or is Gears of War eastern influenced seeing as it copies so much from Resident Evil?

Also, what western game has moved the medium forward? Honestly, I can't think of a mind blowing revolutionary western game made in the last decade. Western developers just focus on making massive open world, high production values, graphics, voice acting and whatnot and that's due to having higher budget and resources than eastern developers. But their gameplay is still meh to awful.

Other than Witcher III (which is made by an eastern European dev), no western game has been innovative or pushed the medium forward.

Red Dead Redemption 2.

RDR 1 was overrated. Other than the story and premise, the controls and gameplay was very awful like a game from the PS2 era.

There's virtually no Rockstar game that isn't overrated. All Rockstar and Bethesda games are overrated. Game media's inexplicable love for them is something that will perpetually elude me.

Obviously, Japan ain't creating masterpieces like before, nevertheless, they are still better than western games, because they prioritise the most important aspects of a game, namely gameplay and level design.

I mean, this gen, no game western RPG has better gameplay and level design than Bloodborne.

No western fighting game has better gameplay and mechanics than Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear XRD and Tekken 7

No western third person game has better gameplay and controls like MGS V.

No western action game has better gameplay than Bayonetta 2 or Transformers Devastation

Even in shooters, no western game comes close to Splatoon in terms of creativity and innovation.

The only thing western games have over Japanese games is high budget, therefore, better graphics, better production values, better voice acting and better story. Because that's what they prioritise and that's what sells.

Only Titanfall and The Witcher III have tried to be creative and innovative.

Also, western games still don't have good boss fights. So terrible.

Next year, Resident Evil 7, NieR Automata, Nioh, Persona 5, Scalebound, Kingdom Hearts, Mario switch, Zelda will destroy all western games in terms of gameplay.

This has always been known that publishers cut essential game content and later release it as DLC. I'm glad a major publisher finally admits it.

What's more annoying is that you have some gamers that vehemently defend this practice. Especially with the phrase "it's DLC, you don't have to buy it". When in essence the DLC is needed to get the "full experience".

All questionable practices by publishers are a result of gamers supporting and encouraging it. Season pass, online pass, preordering, purchasing DLC, micro transactions, paying for XBL/PSN, etc.
