It's a win for Gamestop. I was looking forward to the death of microtransactions, multiplayer unlock codes and pre-order bonuses personally. I'm happy for soldiers and people without the internet, but am saddened at the thought of all the champagne bottles popping at Gamestop HQ as I write this.donalbane
Games were still going to be sold on disc, DRM or not, so no, there would still be pre-order bonuses.

As for microtransactions, they were going to happen, either way. Like it or not, it's the direction the industry is going in.

I hope there is a videogame industry crash you fers whinners deserve it.

Then that would be publishers' fault for creating a bad business model.

Otherwise:

Good.

Otherwise, if publishers want digital games to be the future, they need to look at what other mediums are doing. Netflix, YouTube, and video streaming did not become popular by making physical media worse. They became popular by being a more compelling product. By being more convenient. Same goes for eBooks, digital music, online shopping, online news, email, DVR, etc.

I will say this. Things like PS+ is a huge step in the right direction, and XBLM in the last year or so has been much better about doing sales. For example, XBLM has Sonic Generations on sale right now for $10, and that's cheaper than I could buy the physical copy at any store, including Amazon. Do more stuff like this, and digital games will eventually take over in the years to come, but it will happen the way it should: by consumers making the choice, not publishers.Link256

And guess what? Doing this, everyone wins, including publishers.

[QUOTE="Jakandsigz"]Well, now maybe xbox will be 1st place instead of 2nd like this gen afterall. Has me worried for a sec.nep321a
X360 has officially slipped to 3rd place this gen. Check out vgchartz.com. PS3 is now 2nd place.

In terms of hardware sales. Unless you were Ubisoft, Wii was pretty much a deadzone for 3rd party publishers. And to be fair, when most people say Microsoft won this generation, what they are really talking about is North America, in the same sense Genesis won North America, but the SNES won worldwide. Not that only North America matters, because it does not, as we are in global market these days, but again, that is really what most people have in mind.

PS4. Already pre-ordered on Amazon

Wii U, if it hits the $300 sweet spot.

I'll wait for a price drop with the X1. Same goes for the Vita.

Already have the 3DS. I purchase it when the XL was released last year.

Not a PC gamer.

Just for one second, think about this post.TrooperManaic
To play devil's advocate, there could be some people posting from school, friend's house, library, public hotspot, etc.

Not to mention, just because someone has the Internet, does not necessarily mean they have good Internet. They could have dial up, or unreliable connection.

[QUOTE="Samurai_Xavier"]

When they announced the Wii Fit lady as a playable Smash Bros. character I knew they had run out of ideas.

charizard1605

All this bitching and moaning about Wii Fit Girl's inclusion when ROB and Game and Watch are characters in the Smash Bros. series is asinine and hypocritical.

Actually, no. Nintendo is the one who is asinine (and out of touch) for calling the Wii Fit trainer a "big announcement." The only have themselves to blame for the backlash.

Otherwise, if the Wii Fit trainer had just been another character, nobody would have given a crap.

I am a supporter of the LGBT community, and they should be respected (or at the very least, tolerated), and in general, they should have the same rights and privileges as the average citizen.

No, I find it pretty disgusting, but I find it hilarious conservatives are crying foul now. Where the hell were you during the bush administration when he was pulling this same sort of invasion of privacy?
