I'd get it fixed now before it becomes too late. I work for the Microsoft Store here in Wisconsin, call 1-800-4my-xbox or online at xbox.com to see if it's in warranty so you can swap it out. If you have a Microsoft Store in the area I could also suggest bringing in to them so they can have a listen :)

It's only digital stuff, but the xbox play anywhere platform offers that kind of functionality
