@kazeswen: half the things you say make sense but the other half makes me doubt you ever even finished any of the dark souls games. If you are relying on stats to defeat enemies then you are not playing it right.

Artificial difficulty right now is just a shield term for casuals who grew up in an age where getting hit is practically rewarding, a hack and slash game age where you just run up to an enemy and smash buttons to kill it without dodging or blocking, without fear of stuns or death, Musou style (yes im refering to the DW franchise)

Yes there are games like FF 0 were artificial difficulty is real, and they draw on it like a clutch mechanic, and fail to balance themselves, either because the devs can't program AI for their lives or because they couldn't balance the design of the exp gains\caps and tables. But the games from the Dark Souls franchise were never one of them, if you get hit you are supposed to get damaged, if you get comboed, you are supposed to die, how is that artificial difficulty.

@gotrekfabian: rather, the momentum is dying down. Fifth and Sixth gen were the golden age, for example Sony's playstation line had huge libraries, games were longer yet still took a shorter time to develop, because developers didn't have to bother making distractions such as dlc, expansions, etc. Now at present gen there aren't that many titles on any of the consoles, whats worse, companies are focusing so much on bringing back abandonware in a retro splurge (nintendo im looking at ya) that their libraries are suffering.

It's because before, making games was basically considered art, now its a cold blooded business.

@kumy: Im EAGERLY awaiting the release of the second episode, im calling it, there is absolutely no way this can be split three ways, there is just not enough content. It will crash, it will burn, and there will be tears (mostly on SE and Sony's side, fanboys will be laughing)

@AndreasRufus: I'm a fan and im only planning on buying episode 1. Just so i can legitimately complain about how bad it was :)

What i want to know however is, if they are releasing a game on episodes, if its going to work just like any other episodic release (XIII, Mass Effect, TWD), where you have default choices made if you start from the last episode.

There weren't many choices, such as saving the guys in the submarine, but there were miss-able things, like the phoenix materia IIRC.

Obviously, save editors incoming

@keithlemon: Have a chillpill, they are free.

SE hasn't released any news despite releasing a statement about the game, and i pointed that out, is whining about someone else's commentary really a commentary?.

An entire article, just to say it will be 3 episodes long.
If you feel proud over this piece of journalism i doubt we have anything in common.

@chourtaird1: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? DONT COMPARE THE HACK GAMES TO THIS, THE HACK GAMES WERE HUGE IN CONTENT.

The 20+ hours for each were 20+ because you could skip most of the party banther and other features which were optional but had character relevant content, its the same as if you said, Grandia 3 is only 40 hours long, that game has a god damned extra dungeon that takes dozens more hours and adds a lot more party talk as you complete it.

@kumy: The worst part (not really) is that they aren't even saying anything, they didn't tell us when the episodes will begin and end, We don't know if they plan to start at the same point of the original or if they plan to include new flashback scenes or all of crisis core (doubt it), they aren't saying how they will split it into 3 either, i can't really think of any cliffhangers dramatic enough to stop an episode at, Aerith's death is right in the middle of the game, and the only thing that i think would work would be Cloud waking up and seeing Meteor for the first time, but that is basically endgame, buying an episode just to finish the game? that sounds derp.

Also, there is no way in hell i will buy 3 episodes of Final Fantasy 7, there was definitely enough content in the original to split it into two episodes, but not into 3.

@quakeknight1991: A 30 hours jrpg is a full sized game? are you 15 years old? the rule for a jrpg today is to have at least 40 hours of gameplay, the average used to be 70 to 80 hours and over the last 16 years it has decreased, now its not rare to see 30 hours long games with a lot of side content, but this is and will always be frowned upon.

Its not enough that investors have tried to make p2w mandatory in online games, but now they started trying to add microtransactions to single player games with multiplayer modes like AC and MGS, and now they want to add cliffhangers to games and make them episodic? where are the standards? i don't see any anymore.

Where were you when everyone and anyone agreed with the outcry for FFXIII not having a real ending?

Just because you whine about what other people say doesn't make you rational, nor anyone else's voice.
