I was hoping for much more from Rage, but in the end, it felt like it tried to emulate other action RPG games on the market like Bioshock. I know that the industry has moved on from the days of running and gunning in tight corridor shooters, but this is what the Doom series is known for. Personally, I don't want to get bogged down with a 5 minute in-game cinematic during every level change. This isn't Reese's...keep the peanut butter out of the chocolate!

Some of them are good, but so many are terrible. This is why console manufacturers are highly selective of what products are actually released on the systems. If anything, 8000 games inside of two years floods the market with games that most will never see and even more will never pay for. The equivalent of this is to imagine 20000 games available for the Nintendo DS...that's just crazy!

All of this sounds good to us on the consumer end, but what about for the game developers? You would have to believe that there may be a decrease in the number of games sold which could have a negative impact on the industry as a whole. I love the idea of being able to play newer games that my PC would never handle, but I will have to wait and see.

Lots of questions not answered here. Support for video playback if any at all? Web browser included? Game sharing (especially since SD cards can be removed from the system)? Any chance of DSiWare support for DS Lite systems (possibly using the DS and DS Lite's GBA slot for an SD card reader in order to download and store games)? The audio playback is not that big a deal for me since I carry an iPod with me everywhere and it's not likely I'm going to take a DS on a morning run since it is so bulky in comparison to the iPod nano. The cameras don't interest me much either since I am only interested in the machine for playing games. The idea of it actually playing movies from the SD card is not mandatory either, but would be a nice feature since you do have two screens there on the system to begin with. I'm in need of a new DS since my last one fell to the dreaded "cracked hinge" syndrome causing the system to short out every time you ever so slightly move the system (I've heard it's possibly a bad connection on the ribbon, but I'm not about to tear open my DS to find out how to fix it either) and now I find myself in the dilemma of either dropping coin now on a new DS Lite or waiting for almost a month and a half to drop even more money on a DSi. The only thing keeping me from the DS Lite right now is not knowing whether DSiWare will be supported on that version of the hardware or not and I'm guessing "not" since it IS called "DSi" Ware, but you just never know...
