Yes the news of the PS3 being delayed to March of 2007 for our fellow gaming friends in Europe is a disappointment. But Sony isn't the only one's making arrogant claims at E3. Shortly after the Xbox 360 launched Microsoft was making claims that their going to be #1 in this console war and they're not. The PS2 still outsells the 360. Some of the statements made by Sony have been misconstrude. When Kaz Hirai mentioned that anything that Sony puts out people will buy isn't that far off from the truth. When it's put in that context yes people are going to be upset because it's the truth. Should Mr. Hirai use better choiced words next time? Yes. Some things are best left unsaid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes the 360 is a good console, but I don't consider it next-gen. To me next-gen means a total upgrade from it's predecessors. The only upgrade that I see is a graphical upgrade and more RAM. WIth the add on's then, and only then, will the console be considered next-gen. Microsoft also said that the Xbox 360 will be compatible with the original Xbox. So far not only half of their Xbox titles are compatible with the 360. And how do we make those games compatible? We need to download patches in order to play them on our "next-gen" console. Who knows how big those downloadable files are. Especially when we're running a 20gig hard drive. Plus the only games that are making it onto the 360, and causing a big fuss so far, are the XBLA games that was a hit 10-15 years ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm just as disappointed as most of you are about the PS3 delay. But, not to sound insensitive, most of the American public is still going to be getting theirs. Also look at what other companies are saying and doing. Microsoft is right along side Sony when it comes to making comments to the gaming public.
I have to agree with USER9000. E3 was once about the games. Then it turned into a softporn industry show with all these half-naked booth babes. Don't get me wrong they looked nice but my real focus is about the games. If these little teenaged boys want booth babes I suggest to use the internet to download the naughty stuff. The convention needs to go back to it's roots. Bring back the focus of the games. If I wanted busty chicks I can go to the local joint and stuff $1bills down panties all night long. But then these KIDS would crap and complain, write blogs to their hearts content, and even try to sabatoge forum boards to get their own way. The youth of the nation. Gotta hate 'em.
The cost of games won't exceed the $60 price point for the PS3. If it does the PS3 simply won't sell. What I hoped Sony would of done instead, is introduce the Blue Ray technology to the industries a year or so ago so that there won't be any worries at launch. But instead they chose to announce the Blue Ray player and then, seemingly, looked for backing of the technology later. I still have faith in Sony and that the PS3 will sell. But there is still the other part of me, the evil part, saying that it could very well fail. The only way to shut that side of me up is to feed it twinkies. SHUT UP EVIL ME!
Awesome idea Gamespot! I would like to hear more interviews from the greatest minds of the gaming industry, in podcast form, more often. Again good job.
