@Berserk8989: Don’t kid yourself, the movie only made the money it did because it’s Star Wars. And while critics enjoyed it, the movie only has a 49% audience score on rotten tomatoes. Your argument is flat.

@Berserk8989: No, a single detail doesn’t make it a terrible movie, the bad scriptwriting did that. What makes Johnson a terrible director, however, is the overwhelming abundance of “little details” that he’s having to come out and explain/defend after the fact. If he’d done his job right in the first place, the answers would have all been there on viewing the film.

Diversity is irrelevant. Skill, credentials, and capability are all that matter in any field, period. Diversity is not a qualifier and does not benefit anything, as it is a superficial trait. Want more women and minorities in an industry? Encourage them to pursue degrees towards that end and challenge them to hone and perfect their skills, just like anyone should strive to. Egalitarianism is life.

Ridley Scott needs to find retirement, not a new franchise to botch. That, or stick to producing. He was once a titan of filmmaking prowess, but these days, he's lost his edge.
