I have a few problems with the claims that next GEN consoles are up to the same standards as a PC.

Look, I don't mean to start any wars about PC vs. console and the reason is because I would prefer to have a gaming PC and EVERY single console that has games that I like to play.

However, I would encourage people to go to any major Custom PC Gaming website that allows users to customize their hardware and go directly to the video cards and processors that you can load a modern PC gaming rig with.

Check Falcon Northwest.

Or a less expensive shop.

Alienware has lost some points after they were bought out by Dell. They don't allow the same power builds as they used to.

Anyway, if you don't like Falcon or some other place, just go and look at the performance standards of the very best graphics cards by Nvidia and ATI and Intel processors you can put into a $10,000-$20,000 gaming PC rig.

Then figure that places like Falcon Northwest or some other place lets you put 3, maybe even 4 of those graphics cards into one PC.

There's another consideration.

If the up coming consoles last for 8 years, that means that the hardware they have in them on launch will be the same hardware (CPU and GPU) 8 years from now.

Do you know how often they come out with better graphics cards for the PC format?

Anyway, this is what I'll say.

If Sony and Microsoft both have games that I want, I'll probably eventually buy both systems.

And a gaming PC.

But it's dishonest to say that even the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One have the same standards as a modern gaming PC... that's just not true.

Do you know how much Sony and Microsoft would have to charge if they took three of the current absolute best PC gaming desktop GPUs and put them into a console?

Consoles are great.

But they don't have the processors or the graphics cards capability of the best gaming PCs.

The problem I have with Nintendo isn't that they don't make good first party (Zelda, Mario, etc) titles, is that they don't take any chances and keep releasing the same platformers we've seen since the NES or maybe the SNES.

It's not like they're bad platformers--we've just seen it before, like Miyamoto was saying.

Here's the deal. Nintendo did do some innovating in the N64 days with third person games like Zelda Ocarina and Super Mario 64.

And they did those really well.

Why do they feel the need to imitate what they've done with the SNES when they proven with those titles that they can release games like Mario 64 that have something other than what appears to be 2D platforming?

Go back and see how you did 3rd person action/adventure titles since SNES and improve on those.

Keep it and don't release it until it's good. Or scrap it and release something that's equal to the quality of the other good games that have "Bethesda" written on them.

A good job down slowly is better than a bad job done quickly.

When I first saw the chainsaw chase I thought to myself, "Hey, I've seen this in Resident Evil before!"

Perhaps it was RE4 but I'm not sure.

I understand that there's no wholly original content but there wasn't much of a surprise because I feel like I'd seen it before.

Horror is kinda impacted negatively when I don't feel surprised...

Certainly not for youngerish kids, I guess...

Bethesda has previously made games that I've enjoyed so I guess it's only fair to wait for a review...

Yeah, totally a fan of Tolkien-esque roleplaying games.

However, I'm usually waiting to hear a pricing model when game developers try to sell me on their new MMO.

This website, GameSpot, reported Take-Two's opinion on the financial success of MMOs in the United States.

Take-Two was of the opinion that only two MMOs, WoW and Everquest, were successful in the US.

I don't know how Gamespot treats copy-pasted hyperlinks in the post, but I'll paste the gamespot Take-Two response below.

Always a fan of medieval fantasy roleplaying games, not so much a fan of microtransaction pricing models in MMOs. I find myself spending more than 14.99 a month with that transaction model, which is the subscription price for some MMOs.

Here's Gamespot reporting on Take-Two's opinion on MMO success in the US:

I have to ask myself why Gamespot would put this on their website.

There's definitely an angle.

Good for them for showing support for PS4/Sony.

I think the preferential treatment is deserved in order to show Microsoft/Xbox that we don't care for their aggressive, obnoxious, limiting business practices (no game sharing, always online, etc).

That having been said, the first thing I do when I decide whether I want to buy a new console is check the quality of games that's currently in the console library.

If they're both good I'll get both. If they are both equally good I'll get the less expensive one first.
