Curious what this would look like if you added 3DS with the Wii U as this is likely where the NX is headed.

Looks (and sounded) amazing. Can't wait to play it.
Software sells consoles. Period. I bought the Wii U just so I could play Mario Kart. I refer to the Wii U as the "Mario Kart machine". Granted I have a lot of other games for it, but I bought it specifically for Mario Kart. I just finished taking a break from playing Kirby: Return to Dreamland on my Wii U. I find the game fun, I don't gave a damn that it's not running at 3 teraflops and at 4k resolution etc. etc. I just want to play a fun game.
People buy PlayStation for Uncharted and God of War. People buy Xbox for Halo and Gears of War.
If Nintendo releases a more "traditional" console; i.e. one with no gimmick controller, they should be fine, regardless if their console is a powerhouse or not.
I feel like Nintendo is very lacking in community/social features. They could add a trophy/achievement system in their own Nintendo way (sticker album is lame). Heck, they could go back and add trophies/achievements to old virtual console games. They need a better way to play and communicate with friends online. There is just so much potential and room for improvement here that it frustrates me just thinking about it.
If the NX can play both console and handheld games as a sort of WiiU/DS or SNES/GBA hybrid machine, forego with gimmicks (no waggle, no second screen, just give me a regular controller), and improve online/social play I guarantee you that NX WILL outsell Xbox and be a closer competitor to Sony.
Might have failed in terms of industry analysis and statistics. In my books, however, it is a successful console with some awesome games. Long live Nintendo.
This is almost impossible to answer. I mean, which did you like more, Ocarina of Time or Final Fantasy VII? Mario 64 or Spyro the Dragon? PS1/PS2 has MORE games, but the quality of games on 64/Gamecube was amazing... Personally I lean towards Playstation as I enjoy JRPGS. However currently I own a Wii U and no PS4..... (or Xbox)
The Wii U WILL hold its resale value, it didn't sell tens of millions like the Wii. If you still use it I would keep it (Always a chance a game comes out that you want but you sold the system and now you're thinking about buying it again). Hell, you might even get more for it in the future.
@nintendoboy16: I totally agree. He just says "Europe"(...i.e. France is a country in Europe where Nintendo does very well) so it's a bit ambiguous. Maybe someday Nintendo will do better in those other countries.
Very good news to hear (officially, even though I have long suspected this to be the case). I've owned every Nintendo console since the NES and will continue to buy if it's a home console with physical games.
@nintendoboy16 Nintendo does very well in France (if that matters)
People who are saying "PS3 had this and no one wanted it" are maybe forgetting what the price on the PS3 was when it launched (backwards compatibility was one of the reasons they used to justify the price) . Microsoft added the feature FOR FREE.
Really wish PS4 would just add backwards compatibility. Would be so much better then their PS Now thing they are experimenting with. Major props to Xbox for doing this, considering two years ago this was completely the opposite of their vision for the future.
