Either of your descriptions would be an oversimplification. On economics, typically what is considered left would involve more government control and what is further right, less government control. The opposite holds true on social issues.

This is perhaps one of the most succinct and clear statements about the distinctions between liberals and conservatives I have ever read. Thank you.

Of course it isn't perfect, both groups tend to break the rules in some way (ie liberals with gun control, conservatives with military spending). What I find interesting is that for the last 30-40 years rebublicans have always increased government spending and the size of government and democrats have reduced it. Of course Obama is the exceptiong, but that is due to the dilemma of a failing economy. Either way, what gets me is that conservatives still shout that dems will take control of our lives and increas government while history clearly shows the people they plan to vote for are far more guilty and likely of doing that. apparently controlling people's lives requires a larger infrastructure than managing the economy.

K, so here's the deal. The computer got hit with a nasty virus effectively knocking it out of commission. I have removed the necessary files and saved them, completely formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows XP. Unfortunately, after installing XP, the network controller has gone missing from the device menu.

I have already attempted to find the correct driver for the motherboard, put the only one that I could find on a flash drive and installed it on the computer to no avail. The computer refuses to connect to the internet through the ethernet cable and I ran a program called unknown devices to see if I could even see the network controller, nothing.

I have no idea what has happened or why the controller isn't even coming up as an unknow device. I have done a google search and I haven't seen anything that matches my issue out in the ether.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on with this computer and how I may go about fixing the problem.

The Motherboard is an Albatron KX18DS Pro and it has a built in network adapter.

Thanks

I think I put in about 12 hours. Though I didn't really keep track. It easily could have been shorter.

Also, it seemed easier to me, though that might be because I have gotten better at these types of games. I didn't really get stuck for to long on anyone (except Zeus, that bastard).

Nintendo is better though.SaltyMeatballs

I have to disagree. I think Nintendo gets raved about largely due the the genrally poor quality of their 3rd person software. When compared their 1st person really feels amazing. The problem is, as someone else stated, Nintendo is still doing the same thing with their 1st person they were doing 20 years ago. The best games are Zelds, Mario, Metroid. A few other titles such as Mario Cart and SSB since then, but those are still pretty old ideas. Granted this isn't universal Wii sports and Wii fit are original, but the idea really isn't. I remember doing some of that stuff as a 7 year old on the game pad. Nintendo offerings are not bad. On the contrary they really are well crafted high quality games, but I am not conviced they are on the level of Sony. This is why:

Sony has to compete against a number of high quality 3rd person titles: MGS, FF, BioShock, CoD and MW, AC, all putting out high quality games on the console. And yet despite this their 1st person offerings are not only competitive with them, they often raise the bar. On top of that they have come up with new ideas. GoW is only about five years old, and they are putting it to bed soon. Ratchet and Clank are ps2 ideas (still going) but Jak and Daxter, a hugely successful game has essentially ended as Naughty Dog created Uncharted, a new and successful ps3 franchise. Granted they have the potential to fall into a rut like Nintendo has IMO, but they haven't yet and hopefully they will continue to develope and support new ideas.

Yay, just over a week.

Sad story, my ps3 died about a week ago and I'm not gonna be able to send it off for repairs until next week. That's what I get for being so critical of the RROD.

While it was kinda rediculous I bought a used 120gb ps3 as a replacement cause I don't have patience. I wouldn't worry about replacing the broken one, but it is a launch 60gb and I don't have the heart to throw it away.

There are others.

Personally I am a fan of the button smashing action genre and I thing GoW is a great series so I'm really excited. I randomnly found the original a couple of months after it came out and was really impressed by the quality, innovation, and unique nature of the gameplay and animation. GoWII imporved upon the original, though by then it had already been copied a few times. With GoWIII many of the ideas that made the series so unique have been copied to death (QTE's for instance) and multiple other games have used the success of its brutal nature to capitalize on fans. I personally am somewhat picky about which games I buy so I refused to purchase the GoW clones such as Dante's Inferno and Darksiders (though I did buy Heavenly Sword, which I thought was great minus the short length). Needless to say, I am really excited for this game and after playing the demo today, even more so.

As far as Bayonetta goes, three things turn me off on the game: the expoitation of young men by having her clad in nothing but her hair, the silly nature of the character models (that hair is just, wow), and after watching the Unskippable of the intro, the absolutely rediculous story introduction. I have no doubts that the game is fun to play, but I think it would be hard for me to enjoy a game like this that I can't take seriously when it is trying so hard to be taken seriously.
