I never liked him something about his demeanor always annoyed me and I'm happy he's gone even though I rarely ever come here and will come here even less after this whole debacle. However the fact of the matter is what happened to him is completely wrong and no matter who it is that just shouldn't happen in this kind of business. No I won't miss him, a little part of me is happy he's gone but overall I'm disgusted that this even happened and I sympathize with him under these circumstances.

Also in retrospect the 8.8 score is dead on for Zelda, most games are overrated and make the score look worse than it really is, it is a great game but not AWESOME AAA and i think most review systems are broken and overrated. For me he nailed that score (can't remember the review content, pros/cons of the game but the score is precise), I still dislike him though.

I am actually not surprised he was let go.

I found once he started doing reviews for the AAA titles i found myself not looking to gamespot for information for these games. He loved big action shooters and well those were great 10 years ago i want some depth to my games and a lot of them have it but I found he never saw it.

I head over to ign(ign has its fair share of problems to) or listen to the 1up show now for most information concerning certain games, where gamespot is more for news and rumors in the industry.

Maybe things will change with Jeff's replacement.

I'm very much the same, I mainly go to IGN and another site for my reviews especially gerstmann's, i've never liked him or his reviews BUT what's happened is disgusting and should NEVER happen, it takes away what little credibility I gave gamespot and means the few visits each month are over. After I'm done voicing my anger I doubt I'll ever return to a place run like this.

[QUOTE="Realtop"]Why do you people care so much about him?agrippi
i think for a lot of people, it isn't that they care so much about him, but that he totally got screwed over. i may not have agreed with his views on some games and we may not have even shared the same interests in game genres, but it is definitely not a good sign when someone gets fired for not artificially inflating a review score. it makes you question all reviews for big name games, wondering if things were sugar-coated b/c of some advertising dollars.

you hit the nail on the head, it disgusts me that this has happened and i never liked gerstmann.

This is literally my first time back at gamespot since Greg Kasavin left and the only reason I'm back is to say "lol gerstmann"

Gerstmann is pathetic, he should be fired and they should hire someone competant.

Based only on Jeff's review TP actually deserves a lower score than it got. If you have more to say against a game than for it, shouldnt it get below a 5?

You have to take into account how big the gripes were he had against the game. It's not about the quantity of things he complains about, it's about how they impact against the game.

Completely agree with this guy

[QUOTE="Over9102"]We Consider Games On Their Own Merits
First and foremost, our reviews are an assessment of one particular game at a time. We approach each review assignment without assuming anything about the quality of the game, irrespective of prerelease preview coverage, the history of any previous games in the series, any perceptions about the developer's or publisher's track records, and so forth. That is, every game we review gets a fair shake, and is treated with the same level of care and attention with which we approach every review assignment.

Somehow, Jeff got blinded by his hate, and not only forgot that he worked for Gamespot by ignoring the rules you have when reviewing a game but also reviewed the hardware in a software review.

...

But when you give Zelda MM a low score for being to different, and then take points away from Zelda TP for not being different, you know that the only thing stopping this game from getting a 10, is the guy reviewing it... and this guy doesn't like Zelda or the Wii.

Jeff, that idiot should learn to filter spoilers, never was a fan of his and never will be by the looks of it.

Nah I haven't given up on GS, I only ever did really like Greg's reviews, haven't read any of Jeff's reviews before (and not reading this one because of spoiler alerts from friends) and I don't think I ever will. I only really trust a few IGN reviewers and Greg and this is exactly why. Yeup, Wind Waker and Perfect Dark Zero are definitely better I think.
