It's time consuming but not difficult, besides if it lines up with your interest studying for the courses should be enjoyable. I could never major in history, I would likely fail due to boredom/lack of interest.
Many many people find it conceptually difficult, not just time consuming. And as an engineering major, I can say that it is conceptually difficult. Whether it's easier or harder than the humanities depends on the person, but in general, more people seem to struggle to grasp the concepts you have to learn in engineering.
