I mean I'd say in most cases I'd rather play as a male character than as a female one (just because, you know, I'm a guy), but I've got no objection to playing as a female character.chessmaster1989

first of all if it is a j-dev title the females have better bonus stats and abilities most of the time.

secondly, if i have to look at a butt for hours on end in a 3rd person game it may as well be a female one.

thirdly, fem-shep for life.

Even a game as satirical and fun as GTAV has some sort of basing in the real world. Believability is an asset for narrative driven games like GTAV and a female lead character wouldn't do the game any favors in this regard.

Also, the vast majority of people playing this game will be male. Why should they play as a character to whom they have a harder time relating in order to service a minority? Honestly, internet feminists needs to know how to pick their battles a little more wisely. Men and women are different and not every manifestation of that difference is an injustice.

I think there are many other reasons that woman don't play GTA V besides not having a female lead.  Or for you nitpickers, "wont play"

Having a female lead for the sake of it is forced. Might be for political correctness or for commercial gain either way it undermines the game. Same goes for everything else in all other mediums. If the creators want to make a female lead then fine though and vice versa with male leads.

I don't care if the character is male or female. And really, she's asking them to appeal to like 20-30% of the market... why would a company trying to make money do something that stupid?

i'll play GTA V day 1, already on pre order. Best game series ever, hell i was born to play GTA games. I don't care if feminists won't play GTA V, sucks to be them while i enjoy this awesome game HaHa.  

I doubt boycotting will help the problem.  Huge sales for games with female leads will convince developers to make more gamse with female leads.  Boycotting just convinces game developers women don't play video games.  She's 100% right though.  There are so few female main characters in video games and you lose a lot of creative territory when you turn every woman into a pair of talking boobs.
