Having lived in Germany now for a few months my German is pretty ok. I can take part in relatively complicated discussions. I understand most although when I talk I make alot of grammatical mistakes. It has definitely improved although I am dissapointed that it goes too slow. It's due to my own laziness as it's too easy to just switch to English.

I am also trying to learn Levantine Arabic via my gf. It's very very basic atm but it has improved. I can understand the main context if it's a very shallow discussion. Already knew a bit of Modern Standard Arabic which makes it easier as well as complicate it at times.

blah blah blah

Pancake Astronaut. This picture makes me laugh every time i look at it.

I don't think the ATM can post on this board, and if you asked the ATM this question I don't think you would get an answer :( But most ATM's know Chinese and Spanish though automatically.

Spanish, since it's undoubtedly the second most spoken language in the country, and where I'm moving about half the population speaks it.

If you do I would suggest starting now instead of delaying it. It will only make it harder to actually start if you do, and as time passes life will start getting in the way if it doesn't already.

German too at the moment. I think most people underestimate this language's difficulty and its grammar is significantly more complex to learn than the other languages Americans often learn: Spanish and French. Luckily pronunciation is relatively easy.

For the past 3 years I've been working on Mandarin Chinese. I'm slowly giving up on it though. Having actually finally lived in China for a bit has turned me off of ever spending much time there again. It's hard to put in the necessary effort when the language's culture has become unappealing.

Spanish.  Mine is pretty good right now, but I'm not in a Spanish speaking country anymore, so it's gonna get shitty fast.

I'm going to try to learn Italian, my dad's side is Italian and the language kinda stopped at his generation, his parents never spoke it in the house. I know basic French so it's helping, but I'm nowhere close to fluent. I'd really like to be able to yell at people in rapid, frightening Italian.

Portuguese.

Almost fluent. (sorta)

Interesting experience, thinking about learning German next after I'm comfortable with Portuguese.

Koine Greek and Biblical Hebrew are the languages I have studied most recently but lately I have been attempted to refresh the Spanish I learned when younger being that it is my girlfriend's native language.

true, I suppose, from a population point.

but english is the international de facto language of politics and economy. You get leaders from 50 countries together, most will be speaking a fair amount of English, as it will be the only common language they have outside of their own.

Please dont take offense, or think this is a pride or "Amurrrrrrrrrrrica!" thing.  It is just how it is.

Spanish, second most spoken language in the world so I figured it could be useful to know.
