@FireEmblem_Man: However, how long does it take to create a new generation?
Hiddai's forum posts
@jaydan: Seems like there were at least 40 pokemon that meant to be outside the 150 original ones. I wonder whether they meant to be presented as a new generation or as 'hidden list' in addition to the first 150.
The GS I remember was so different back in them days :(
In the next hours we would hear the results...still nighttime over there
@toonlonk: pokemon will stop being popular if they will continue creating pokemons just for the sake of creating...no wonder why the first generations are the best...
I remember reading somewhere that they already had the first two generations planned out and that the original games would have had more but they didn't have enough space.
Do you have a source for that?
It wasn't two full Gens but according to this thread they had at least 190 designs around the time of Gen 1.

Interesting.
Now I wonder how many pokemons they plan to working on? I want to say 1000 because, even though the series will keep going on as long as it keep earning money, having millions of pokemons will be impossible to track, even by its biggest fans.

I remember reading some rumors that "Pokémon has already more than 1000 pokemons ready to be introduced in the future". I wonder when they got the idea that they need to have more than 150. As I said, Ho-oh was already introduced in the very first episode. What was his status back then? To be part of the first batch or did they know they will have a second batch that will be remained as a secret for a while (during the first season)?
When the creator of Pokémon created Pokémon in the 1990s, did he knew already, he would have more than 150 pokemons? As we all know, already in the first episode we've seen a pokemon from the 2nd generation. Did he plan to "hide" this pokemon from the first generation and unveil its identity in an unknown time? Or it was just an a random act that occurred during the broadcasting of the series when he planned to add more generation(s)?
It may be part of a broader question of how many pokemon does GAME FREAK/NINTENDO plan to have? Nowdays we have above 800 but I am sure there were no 800 pokemons 20 years before.
Thanks
