Maybe your solution is as simple as changing your in-game control options. Set it to controller instead of keyboard. Most games are set to keyboard by default. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, just wondering if maybe you overlooked this detail.
If you are awed by the graphics in Prey, prepare to have your mind blown whenever you buy some good games. CoD4, GoW, GRAW, and Assassin's Creed beat Prey in every aspect.
The servers aren't dead on either one. They are both great games and I enjoy them equally. I just happen to be playing CoD4 more often than Halo 3 recently. Get either one. You cannot lose either way.
Get CoD4 for sure. Especially if you are going to get Xbox LIVE. Also, when you get your 360 download the Frontlines demo. You may change your mind about it being a good game. I personally think it is terrible. You can save yourself about $60 there. Bioshock is a great game but there is no online component. If you are going to get a single player game, I'd recommend Assassins Creed.
Don't mess with the wireless junk for now. It's not necessary so just buy the LIVE subscription and save some money. Your dad might me more inclined to help you out if all you had to buy was the $60 subscription.
