I suppose your right. The fact remains though that CE2 was built for the PC, and CE3 is built for multi-plat.

I just can't see it being better.

But, like i said, i hope i'm wrong. If anyone can pull it off, it's Crytek.

I doubt whether Crysis 2 will look better than the original. Check this vid out for a comparison.

UT99 is one of my all-time favourite games. A classic.

Morpheus ftw :)

I hate to play the devils advocate but i disagree that Crysis is poorly optimized.

I've always considered it to be one of the most well-optimized games in history. Especially considering the level of technical achievement.

The amount of coding and "stuff" going on, in the background while your playing that game, is immense.

This is coming from a person that was able to play it on high - smooth - from day 1 though. Not a radically powerful system either. Dual Core, 88800gts. You can't expect CryEngine 2 to run like the Source engine. It wasn't designed to run on every rig. Saying it's poorly optimized seems a bit unfair to Crytek imo.

I think Crytek did an amazing job with that game and it's a shame that the second game probably won't push the boundaries like the first one did.

And i'm going to miss the island setting too :P

They have a procedural destruction system. Anything that they want can be designated as a destructable object. They were asked about skyscrapers and said that yes, it's possible if they want to implement it. I bet we'll see something like that, the opportunity is way too big for CryTek to miss it.

The scale of some of those pictures is fantastic.

No way that will happen since it's going to be on consoles. PS3/360 couldn't render all of that physics and post processing all at once. Well they could, but it would be some scary frames/second.

Consoles run Red Faction and BFBC well and have little trouble with advanced technologies like Euphoria or DMM. CE3 scales perfectly and automatically. It literally adjusts everything created on PC in a matter of seconds to run on consoles. Their new streaming technology is also supposed to be revolutionary.

Crytek is like a second John Carmack. I'd never doubt them.

Check out this test level for Warhead, it gives an idea of the mood they're aiming for. It's made in the old engine, it's not finished and it's not made by the Frankfurt team that develops Crysis 2.

I absolutely agree. Crytek know their ****

It sounds as though Ubisoft has found another way to increase piracy.

I'm running it on Windows 7 RC fine.

Have you tried installing it with XP SP3 compatibility?

What exactly did u run in xp sp3? The setup.exe? The autorun?? And if u did so, did it install the social club first? another idea would be, If I download Steam, would it be possible to run Social Club through that so I no longer have to install it?

I installed social first and i ran both setups in sp3 compatibility mode. Initially. The next time i installed it on my SSD i didn't have to set compatibility at all.

Sounds silly, but do you have the fullscreen option checked?
